This is all about what is appropriate as far as I’m concerned. Some newer aircraft models were never ever supplied with analog instruments so if would be inappropriate to make believe a version with steam gauges. Equally older aircraft no longer flying never made it into the digital era so that would also be inappropriate. Where the discussion or decision making comes is for those many aircraft types whose life span covers both era’s. From the other preference one could equally ask why some aircraft are analog only with no glass option. Which moves it towards meaning an analog and digital glass cockpit version for each and every aircraft like there is for the C172. Probably not going to happen but I understand the sentiment of wanting to have a choice.
