📌Anchorage After Dark (Back2Black) Gunpilot's Challenging Flights

Welcome to the 137th flight event across the GUNNER DOWNUNDER series. This week we will be flying around Anchorage, Alaska, and the event is again guaranteed to give you more of the unique and challenging flight experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.

This flight has us departing from Fort Crosby Airport (approx 150nm North of Anchorage, Alaska) and following the Susitna Rver south to our final desination of the Anchorage International Airport.

We will be departing at 2pm local time in January, with the sun already low on the horizon, and flying south with the setting sun in our eyes, increasing the difficulty of our flight as we locate and land on the bush strips dotted all along our route. As we progress along the planned route the available light will be continually diminishing, to the point that the last few landings will have us making the approaches in darkness. However, most of these rwys after dark will be have rwy lighting turned on to aid us in landing safely.

This flight will be a BACK2BLACK event. In this BACK2BLACK flight event, we will be flying in the BEECHCRAFT KING AIR .This twin engined low wing turbo prop aircraft is a much larger, faster, and more difficult aircraft to pilot…and that degree of difficulty is ratcheted up a further notch by having to put this aircaft into small Alaskan grass strips!!!

The objective of these Back2Black flights will be to see who can fly the whole event plan without damaging or stressing their planes to where their screen goes Black (failure & Damage options will be enabled in the Assistance Options in the sim) and they have to restart where they crashed, either by landing heavily, hitting trees on final approach, stalling, or a myriad of other ways that you can ruin your day in the cockpit. If no pilot makes it all the way from departure to destination without going back 2 black then it will be the pilot who has had the least instances of black screens that is declared the event winner.

Along the way there will be 3 locations where you can redeeem yourself if you have clocked up any Black Screens, allowing you to reduce your tally if you successfully complete one of these redemption challenges.

The weather will be clear (no weather file required to be loaded) and as the sun sets the night sky will light up with millions of stars, making for a great visual from inside the cockpit. All in all a great flight!!

Remember, you will be dropping onto the departure runway in a King Air!
