[ANNOUNCEMENT] BT Studio B-29 Superfortress | BT Studio

The idea of creating a virtual Superfortress, which one could crawl through in flight, in VR, is what inspired me to make a career out of flightsim add-ons.

Until recently, realizing that idea had not been possible due to technical limitations of the simulator.

Now, It’s coming. The plane you’ve been waiting for; the B-29 Superfortress. Flying faster, higher and further than any aircraft before it.

You will explore this engineering marvel from nose-to-tail; every crew position, every rivet. It’s all there.

Featuring;
Fifi
Doc
Kee Bird
T Square 54
Ladybird
Boeing’s Boner

Screenshots & trailer coming soon.

Looking forward to this vintage… How far away - are you talking weeks, months or years?

Months. Probably next year.

This sounds exciting!

Sceptical considering my experience with previous BT products, but looking forward to the B-29

Sneak peak of the gunner compartment. Work in progress; there will be additional detail with decals/rivets all around. Also not yet modelled is the General Electric gunsights. What’s in the compartment behind depends on the variant; either berths for relief crew, or a radar-operators station.

My grandfather flew with B29 #86 Next Objective on Tinian with the 509th, he was there from 44 until the end of the war. Really looking forwards to flying this, that is if it’s available on Xbox!

Edit: just saw it’s on Xbox too :sunglasses:

Do you know which crew position?

It’s highly motivating for me to know you have a personal connection to the plane. I hope the product will help people appreciate not just the crew that flew, but also the women that built these beautiful aircraft. I sure did after placing 100000 rivets with no end in sight.

He was flight engineer. And yeah, I’m really excited to try flying it! But for privacy, i thought it was best to omit my grandfather’s name, because it’s my name as well. Some of the crew members were Pilot Ralph Devore and Jerry Grubaugh, you can find pictures of the entire crew on Google. Next Objective was actually fitted out to carry the bomb, and they flew practice runs with a dummy if I’m not mistaken.

any update for this?

Love it how some developers announce with great fanfare what they intend to do…then nothing. Better to develop a product, test it then release it. THEN announce it.

Eh.

  1. The guy’s super excited about his project, which he has a SUPER personal connection to. Do you really wanna be a killjoy for him?
  2. Marketing plan: “Don’t mention anything about it until it’s ready for release”? I can’t imagine a more horrible marketing plan.

Since we’re publicly announcing our personal opinions when nobody asked… I love hearing about what products are upcoming, and couldn’t give two whatevers about when they actually get released. I’ve got plenty of planes to fly in the meantime.

While I agree with what you are saying it would be nice to get some news on its development.

Hope so. And for Xbox users. Would be a great bird

Yes, it would be. But, I always figure, especially these small developers… Life happens.
