You paid the price and were well informed before you did and i did too.
The price is not set for what it is but for what it will be.
If this thing would be half the price lots of people would buy it now and the level of complaints (or lets call it „user feedback“) would be too much to handle adequately.
How much did 414 beta cost? 40,-
And that is (was) for a one-man-show product.
Here we have a team of 4 or 5 people.
I think the price is ok for what it will be in couple of weeks…
It‘s all subjective but from what i see not a lot of people who paid the price feel ripped-off.
The issue is, I bet many buy it, and until there is a substantial update it will collect dust in the hanger. To me that’s a bad idea, there is no return on your investment. It’s like putting $40 under the bed, instead of putting it in a bank or place where it will accrue interest.
Having said that, it could also be a case of buy low, and reap the benefits later, but we are already pushing very close to the prices of very well done on release add-ons such as PMDG/Fenix, so how much more $ can it be and in what time frame, and will it deliver for that inflated post launch price?
This is how I feel about it, I do want it, but I have many planes I thought I wanted, and they mostly collect dust.
I think the best incentive they can offer, is those who buy now get the next set for free or a very nominal fee, because it can only go up by so much before it hits the Price Wall set by Fenix & PMDG and well if it costs more but actually works is study level, then many won’t mind paying, where as now IMHO it’s just an investment in a promise that could take a very long time to come to fruition.
It’s a tough one, look how long it took FBW to get stuff right, with an army of people working on it. I dont understand why they dont use WT Base code, it is amazing and supports VNAV, I am sure it can be adapted, maybe after the AA_Update there will be some movement on VNAV?
I find the concept of updates every two weeks quite interesting. On the positive side, the costumer already knows when the aircraft will be updated. But there is the other side as well. I think this can be anxiety-inducing for customers, where with every update, there will always be an expectation that something big will come and the disappointment to find out that the update was just a minor fix.
It can also create unnecessary pressure on the devs to always have something they have to deliver every two weeks. It can get to a point where they’ll scrape the bottom of the barrel and find something insignificant to fix/modify that no one asked for, just to say they delivered something.
Nope. The developer later said that he was misunderstood and that the only comment he made was that VNAV is little used in real life, according to an E175 pilot he heard, but that doesn’t mean the addon itself won’t have or will not be prioritized.
They even put a disclaimer about VNAV on their website in the FAQ section:
I just completed my first flight from KSEA to KSFO in the Embraer 175, and am very pleased with how well it went. Although VNAV is not yet ready, LNAV works very well, and I was able to select the departure and arrival and it followed the flight plan on Little Navmap on my 4th monitor, which was a big help during the landing on runway 10R at KSFO. I am confident that the developers will continue to improve this aircraft, and look forward to many hours of enjoyment flying it.
I don’t know if the 414 did every two weeks or not, but the releases were frequent. Its not that the developers need to start work and complete it within two weeks. They have software branches (work in development). When one branch is completed, it is merged back into the main code. So one branch may take 6 weeks, another a couple days, another the two weeks. What would be released is any branches that had been merged in for that two week period. So you aren’t going to get a situation where they have to scrap the bottom of the barrel like presented. Not everything that is released in those two weeks has to have been worked on exclusively in those two weeks.
Update didn’t do much for problems. Baro in hpa almost impossible to handle, still can’t follow waypoints in star and wont connect to ILS. Also issues in AP panel.
The selection of inches of mercury vs hpa can be done with the left mouse button. The outer knob is used for this.
Regarding waypoints, SIDS and STARS, what I do is first set up my flight destination and arrival airports using the default flight planner, and select FLY. Then I use Navigraph to select the departure runway. Next I use Navigraph to select the departure, for example SEA8. I then select the destination runway, followed by the approach and arrival. Navigraph displays make this easy. The selections must match those choices available for the Embraer 175 on the FMC. STARS may be selected, and will be followed correctly on the flights I have tried.
The localizer works well, but there are still issues with the glideslope. I use vertical speed to control the descent for landing, then turn off the autopilot and complete the landing manually.
I hope this is helpful. I am really enjoying flying this plane. My granddaughter’s husband is a pilot for SkyWest, and flies the Embraer 175. I am looking forward to having him try this in FS2020.
I’ve not picked up this one yet, but thinking that I will, even with some of the negativity that has been raised about it’s current state… On a good note, they should have released an update to the E-175 yesterday to catch some of the bugs that have come up and plan another update to be released next week… Sounds like this is a one off update/patch but is showing that the devs are at work and listening to feedback.
I agree – the fact that they put out a patch a full week before they had planned to do it is a good sign that they’re going to be responsive and active in improving/expanding the feature set.
Updated the Embraer 175 this afternoon, then made a flight from Seattle to Ketchikan. The flight was just under two hours. For the first time the approach mode worked! I followed the flight using the moving map in Navigraph. I would like to thank the developers for making several changes very quickly, and making this update 0.9.1 available to us. I have already enjoyed many hours in this plane, and being able to get it at a discounted price was an added bonus. I am confident that features like VNAV will become available in the near future. If it eventually becomes “study level”, that will be great. If not, that is also OK.
I am glad to hear your thoughts on a patch, and the fact they have acted so fast has probably now made buy it today.
Can I ask does it follow the SID & STAR in at least LNAV, or do I have take over for that? I have no problem doing so, but it is below my standard for Airliners. If it at least goes in the right direction and am happy to control height.
