Now this looks fun!
Definitely a buy for me when it’s released in Market Place.

I dont think i can fly anymore without VR… even in msfs… trackir doesnt feels right anymore…
Cant you just lean forward instead of zoom function? I tried VR recently and I found it very easy to just lean slightly forward to see details in small gauges.
Being able to lean forward rather depends on where you are seated and what might be in front of you. In my particular case leaning forward to look closely at instruments as if I was in the actual cockpit of whatever particular plane I happen to be flying is just not possible.
However, in theory it can work and probably does for some.
One of the VR users I spoke with is disabled and leaning forward was definitely not an option for him.
Yes leaning forward helps, but not as much as zooming in when your eyes aren’t as young as they used to be, every little bit helps.
If there is an option available for even a small number of people to enjoy the sim better, I think all developers should include it right from the start.
I looked into camera files and under VR camera settings (Title=“PilotVR”) I found “AllowZoom” option. I do not have VR to test it but you might want to try it. Go to camera CFG file of an aircraft that has zoom disabled and open cfg file in notepad and search for Title=“PilotVR”, then see if there is AllowZoom line. If there is, try to change it from 0 to 1. If there is not, you can add line of code AllowZoom=1
I own a few 3rd part aircraft, so I can see if this option is missing or disabled. Just let me know if any of these does not work: Carenado Mooney, Bn2 Islander, Ryan, Piaggio, Caudron, Stearman, Spitfire, JF Arrow, WACO.
The test went well. Not as long as I wanted as I… admittedly, I was falling asleep after a long day, so I diverted to an enroute alternate I set. I managed about 200nm which was ~1h 41m of flying.
I am very pleased at the results I saw. I tried to keep the numbers as close to the AFM as possible, standard cruising at 12,000 feet.

The AFM states the average fuel flow at 39g/hr … I got 38 from this trip. I wanted to really find out if I could go enroute, with an average flight plan and really use what’s listed as “minimum fuel” without needing to take a bunch of extra because of whatever limitations the flight planner might have. Well, I got pretty close using just published numbers to build a route and fuel calc within LNM. Those wanting to use the Porter alongside third-party addons for economy/tracking should have no problem trying to do any math if you’ve got enough fuel to make it.
Climb rate was pretty much as expected for a heavy payload taking off and had to do a little maneuvering around terrain (I also pretty much kept it at climb-cruise power without realizing … hence the similar flow/rate
)
I too, spent a lot of time pouring over config files in the vain hope that it might be that simple. Alas, of all the 3rd party planes that I have, where Cockpit zoom function is not implemented, most of them have a section in cameras.cfg called PILOTVR and Allowzoom is set to 1.
If it is a simple config setting, It’s buried very deep and beyond my capabilities to find it.
Thank you very much Captain! Your test prove MSFS2020 very accurate flight simulator platform. If 3PD use the real world airplane`s data carefully a flight model will be very close to the real one.
This is exactly why we need the best VR set and a lot of test flights.

actually you need an average VR so that all users can benefit, a good VR will have good visual definition making things lot easier.
Today’s “the best VR set” will be average on release day!
True, its one of the fast changing markets at the moment. It only seems like yesterday that I got my Oculus Rift DK1.
Are you saying the PC-6 release will be in three years?
Given the high cost of VR equipment, owners won’t be changing it frequently.
are you looking for testers LOL! im a 141 student currently
No… I think what he’s saying is VR equipment is evolving very fast. So while you might have the best one today, a few months down the road it very likely won’t be the best one.
