[ANNOUNCEMENT] JRF-6 Goose | Big Radials

Now that you mention it, I noticed this too on my first flight with the plane. Tested only on the ground and watching via an external view, I have no idea if this is an animation glitch with the plane model, or if it’s an actual bug in the flight controls. Since you RARELY ever use full deflection in flight, especially on such a big, lumbering plane, it may not be something that is ever going to affect anything in practice except possibly severe-crosswind takeoffs from land.

True, but you likely will use full deflection on the take-off roll or in crosswind landings and when side-slipping into a landing. I don’t want the rudder auto centering on those common situations.

Didn’t even know that compartment was there! Thanks!

Sure. But if it’s just an animation glitch (and doesn’t represent the true deflection the simulation engine itself “sees,” then it’s only cosmetic. There was a similar animation glitch in the FlyingIron P-38L upon release: the elevator animation was reversed, though it had no impact on flight.

So if this is merely an animation glitch, it’s a cosmetic thing that can get fixed as the team tackles bigger fish. But if that re-centering is more than visual and has actual aerodynamic effect, that should make it more significant.

Very tasty bird this one.
One thing, is it normal that my trim is fully nose down when I start cold and dark?
Of course I can just trim it, but is it normal, full nd, in this bird?

I am also here to say that the Bush Trip that’s included is one of the most scenic/most fun trips in the sim! And I am only half way done with it! FLY THE TRIP!

I wish the Bush Trip from the Big Radials warbird didn’t get removed. :frowning: I am very sad about that - I never flew it!

I will make a point of flying that trip! I bought the plane this morning from Orbx after reading your review (and others equally praising impressions) but have not had time to fire up the PC yet. Maybe get an hour or so in tonight!

Why did the P40 trip (assume you are referring to that) get removed?

Thanks for your review - much appreciate the time you take out for it for the benefit of the community.

It starts neutral for me. Do you have some sort of analogue trim controller on a slider or something? Could be that’s causing some issues perhaps.

Did a couple more flights earlier and still seeing an imbalance in fuel tank consumption. No one else has commented on it so I’m thinking it’s something I’m doing wrong but I can’t figure it out. Everything seems to be set up fine. Then again in my second flight of the day I was puzzled by one of my props spinning a bit slower for some reason and it took me about 20 minutes to realise I somehow flipped the mags on that engine from both to just one so it’s very possible I’m screwing something up with the fuel tanks lol

It is a known issue yes. Its down to the new FUEL SYSTEM Asobo introduced some time ago, and it has its issues lets just say (a lot of them).

We’ll keep tweaking around this

Ah so it’s not just me then! Thought I was going mad lol. Hope it can be fixed up but until then I’m not too bothered with juggling the tanks.

I feel the same, unfortunately … looking at the screenshots and videos I still get a strong early FSX sensation, despite the use of PBR. There is just something about the textures and modeling that doesn’t work for me. They give me a strong hand painted and low poly vibe instead of looking photoreal.

Looks fine to me. The textures aren’t the most top end and I guess could be improved but they really don’t look early FSX to my eyes. I’m satisfied with them.

I’ll work on getting it redone  but I have two new (smaller) trips for the Goose to do now.

Unfortunately we had to remove the trip #BecauseReasons that are honestly not worth going into. Suffice to say we are going to redo it.

In terms of textures… I can see how one may think they are last-gen if you just look at the pics posted here without actually clicking on them and zooming in. It’s a spartan-looking interior. It’s some ugly green paint on bare walls, so yeah… it won’t look like some of the interiors people are used to seeing in more passenger-oriented aircraft. If you click on the actual images (or zoom in in the sim itself), you will see that it’s actually textured pretty good. It’s not Carenado-level, but they are pretty good, I feel. I also really dig stuff like the grime accumulation on the edges of windows etc… I honestly have trouble visualizing THAT interior and how much better it can be in terms of textures.

We’ll review this. Since we don’t really use the 530 much ourselves, can you point to other default aircraft that have this behaviour? This will enable us to determine how its done and implement on the Goose.

I would agree.

This isn’t the civilian “aerial Long Island businessman taxi” Goose that might have had a plush interior. You can only make OD paint on bare metal look so nice.

I just want to say that Bush Trips are the best way to introduce an aircraft. Jabiru came with the 3 trips, Zenith STOL from SimWorks came with a New York State one… and you guys… Oh, and Fokker came with like… 4 (but they are ridiculous, because they are single-leg and 14 hours long, so kiss that idea goodbye). I wish all aircraft came with a bush trip. It’s a wonderful idea and I hope you guys keep that tradition going.

OMG So much THIS

For us, it’s the perfect excuse for some one to actually #FlyTheDarnPlane as well as show of some of this incredible world we have to fly around in. Bush Trips on release are here to stay at Big Radials.

I’ve decided to turn on Unlimited Fuel for the time being. There are a few of my planes that have strange fuel things going on since the update.

I just want to say Thank you! for the amazing plane. Seaplanes are in my heart since I flew a Maule M7 many many years ago. The Goose is absolutely fantastic, trims very easy, the sounds are great and the joy of cruising at your pace with that views are amazing.

I do have one little question: I did a quick flight and landed in water at night, shutdown the engines but the propellers kept running for a long time, so I just turn off the magnetos and they continue running. I don’t know if this is the expect behavior, or perhaps was wind at sea?

Thanks again!
