Steadily working through the included Bush Trip. Great fun, beautiful scenery and excellent, brooding weather scheme. The voice over is another great touch! I just arrived in Hartley Bay to some custom scenery I don’t seem to remember installing. Was this included inyour package as well? Or am I already reaching the stage where I can’t even remember which addons I installed into the sim?
(And yes, of course I beached the Goose trying to come into the marina. It just doesn’t seem to like turning more than a few degrees, even with a lot of differential trust )
Spent some time this afternoon setting up a custom controller profile in the sim to use with my Velocity One Flight yoke, then took the Mighty Goose out of JFK around the south part of the greater NYC area, landing northbound in the Harbor for a little fishing excursion on the leeward side of the Statue of Liberty. I’m 100% sure the US National Park Service and NYPD Harbor Police are fine with it though.
The C170 is a single engine plane. The Goose is a twin. If the engines aren’t quite at the same rpm, or are being run at a resonance frequency (like when your tire is out of balance), you’ll start to hear a wobble.
The bug is across the board, and was mentioned in the Developer’s Q&A a few days ago. They said they are working on it. I think it’s related to the DLSS implementation that was added in SU9.
Yes, they are still working on it, but I could swear I heard them say they implemented DLSS in SU9. Anyway, the real point is, they acknowledged the bug in SU9 in the Dev Q&A when they were discussing the implementation of DLSS. It’s a known bug across the board that started in SU9, not just in the Goose, which was the original implication, and they are working to fix it.
Got this thing a couple of days ago, love this beautiful thing! only two issues jump out atm:
High-rpm engine noise has a loop artifact - can hear a metallic clink every couple of secs, and I’m unfortunately one of those who can’t ignore those things! the rpm range transitions are kinda rough but I can put up with those.
Someone mentioned flickering cockpit window reflections, mine is a bit different - these reflections are masked by the cowling & nacelle, but they’re on the cockpit window because they’re not there when I open it. I guess they’re reflections of the sky to my right ( although clouds didn’t match and I think the roof should get in the way anyway ) but they’re strong enough to colour the entire ( painted, in this case ) nacelle.
When you hear that ‘loop’ its the background filler sound buzz of the engines. You need to get your prop settings in order. Try to cruise at ~30-31mp and 2000-2175 rpm. You wont hear it. I like the howl when you decend at a decent rate with low/no throttle.
Yea if you run the props at full pitch it doesn’t make any sound to cover it up, so you hear that tinny filler sound. When you get down below 2200 rpm the 2nd layer of sound from the props covers it up and you get that pleasant radial drone like from an old war movie. The loop should of been longer for sure though, more than ~3 seconds.
It surely does let you overrun the engines on this one. Once I figured it out I do occasionally still blow one up for fun. Try 30mp at 2100 rpm and lean it out a little bit and see how it sounds, should make about 145 KN
I did mine with the two left levers as throttle(s), 2nd from the right lever for mixture(combined), right lever for flap of course, and use the two left vernier levers below the appropriate throttle lever(s) for pitch. I use B11/12 for gear up/down.
I didn’t see much use for a flap lever when there’s only three positions (Up/15/30). I just set one of the buttons for Flaps Extend and one for Flaps Retract. I have other buttons set for Toggle Landing Lights, Toggle Tailwheel lock, and Toggle Landing Gear.
I have the 247D also, that one takes no effort to blow up! I’ll just cruise in the Goose I think, it’s far more relaxing than the Boeing just pulling the RPM back & climbing more gently works around the audio glitch.
This is very much a bush plane for the UK - we don’t have much ( any, even ) random land we can pop down on, but there’s a lot of water…
So I have managed to blow the left engine in the middle of the bush trip that comes with the plane. Am I stuck until there is an update to extinguish the fire? I think I’m going to be stuck with the plane saved in that state until the update comes, or is there any workaround I might use? Using “refuel and repair” didn’t work in that case
The Goose is such an awesome plane…every time I fly it, I feel like beeing in a scene from a new Indiana Jones movie
This is probably a stupid question and the problem is most likely sitting in front of the monitor but I simply cannot find the bush trip (fishing holiday) that is coming with the Goose and to wich many posters in this thread and the manual refered to (Marketplace version here). It is not under activities/ custom content (where all my other payware bushtrips are) nor under activities/bush trips. Uninstalling and reinstalling the plane (and restrting the sim) does not help. I´m obviously doing somethin very wrong here. Any ideas? Thank you all!
