[ANNOUNCEMENT] JRF-6 Goose | Big Radials

You’re not doing anything wrong, I don’t think. Another surprise “feature” of SU9 it seems.

Thank´s so much for the heads up :+1:
I was really worried … well …while waiting for a Goose update I will just keep on flying Alsaka on my own …Cheers!

It’s there for me. Bought from Orbx though

It’s there for me too & I bought it direct - it’s in Custom content rather than Bush Trips ( as above ).

But it’s NOT in either Bush Trips or Custom Content for some of us, which is a new issue post-SU9. So something (undocumented) changed in how the sim works for Bush Trips but it’s only affecting some people.

Big Radials is aware of this and it’s actively being looked at.

Maybe this will take the sting out of it

Hey folks, if you bought from Marketplace the bush trip is INOP. Good news OSS we’ve found the issue and hope to have an update up soon.

Have you listened with good headphones?

It sounds is like your neighbor taps a melody on the wall, always the same 3 notes, with clockwork precision. And it drives you nuts.

I refuse to accept explanations that this is intended in any way, on no recording of the real plane there is anything like this and even there was such a sound it would not run with the precision of an atomic clock.

What is true is that the sound goes away between 2050 and 2100 rpm and is not related to throttle, and not a problem in cruise flight, only during climb.

Beautiful day to fly the Mighty Goose from the wonderful Campbell River Seaplane base scenery, so kindly suggested and linked above by @Baracus250. I started at the ramp cold and dark, transitioned into the water and took off, then headed south by southeast all the way to Renton, Washington in the southern suburbs of Seattle. The weather was utterly gorgeous at Cambell River, breathtakingly beautiful through southwestern Canada, then abysmal across the entire Seattle area. There’s a metaphor there, I’m sure.

To get the bitter taste of Seattle gloom out of my mouth, later I on I took off from TFFJ at St. Bart in the Caribbean, flew southwest over to Saba, circled the island and returned to St. Bart, landing in the little bay off the eastern end of the airport and beaching the plane for a little post-flight Caribbean nap.

Looks like you knocked a fence post over in the last shot

That’s the scenery, I promise!

(There may be a reason I chose the “Loose Goose” livery from that season of ARCHER for this flight, and there may have been a 7.7% ABV beer consumed during the flight :joy:)

Superspud has a mod that improves Gustaf III airport and the scenery around St Barts, he also included an optional seaplane base download as well on the west of the island which is a nice spot for the Goose to start or end a flight. Yep, have it installed. I’ve used it before, but spawning in the water there with live weather is a risky proposition - your plane will want to weathervane BADLY in those strong Caribbean sea breezes, lol. For this flight, I started cold & dark on the ramp, took off east, curled around to the south and then southwest to Saba before returning.

Yeah steering on the water can be a pain if there’s a wind, sometimes it feels like a bird passing wind in your general direction is enough to make your plane veer off wildly. I almost always like to use real weather when flying but sometimes I have to switch over to manual and dial down the wind for a bit just so I can get to where I want on the water before switching back to live. Really wish Asobo would sort that out.

“Oh please, it takes more than some three-two… Or, wow, seven point seven percent beer to get LameLefty drunk! Seven point seven, really?”

For sure. I recently got a yoke/throttle controller (Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight) and it’s MUCH easier to steer with differential throttles, but still an adventure. Surface winds, especially on the leeward sides of islands, are just not modeled well in the sim.

It’s a pretty good IPA from New Belgium in their Voodoo Ranger series called “Agent77” - quite good but since it’s only a 12 ounce can, yes. Not even a pint. It takes more than one for sure. Some of my favorite craft double IPAs run to 8.5%, but higher than that and I’m not interested. I’d rather drink wine at that point, or just make a mixed drink with something distilled.

Talking of the caribbean…

Somewhat recursive taking a plane to the beach to watch planes from the beach, but hey

I could listen to this thing idling all day.

You are quite right - it isn’t there. I took the issue up with Big Radials about a week ago who told me that its absence was something to do with SU9. However it’s more likely to be a Marketplace issue (faulty compiling). Anyway whatever the cause BR say it will be fixed in an upcoming update.

It’s most definitely an SU9 issue. Some of us who bought directly from Big Radials had it go missing too.

The good news is it’s fixed in the coming Goose update (which I know for a fact, ).

That’s very good news. The reason I thought it was not connected to SU9 is that someone on the Forum said they had the problem prior to SU9 coming out?
