Hi all, is it “normal” that I can refuel my plane in flight simply opening fuel tab in toolbar and adjust fuel level??? In this manner, there is no sense to pianificate fuel quantity before departing.. very unrealistic and arcade!
Yeah, it is possible. It was possible in FSX aswell. Of course, it is unrealistic, but you don’t need to use it? You can plan your fuel before departure and just don’t touch it…
It is there, but its only ‘unrealistic and arcade’ if you choose to use the feature.
Just dont use it and enjoy the sim.

It’s Not! It’s a Sim thing!
In fact being able to tinker, rewind, fast forward, change parameters, change angles, change weight, activate a failure,.. and do it all from your fourth monitor in separate dedicated windows is supposed to be what simming is all about.
That’s why they require so much horsepower. That’s what really separates them from games. Not just the level of realism, but that you can step back and forth through the fourth wall at will to tinker with it, on the fly, and the sim handles all this organically.
Msfs is missing nearly all of that. Heck there isn’t even a save or load that works.
That is why it is a game, the absence of so many standard features not the inclusion of a few of them.
You could say the same about changing the weather or pretty much anything else. Are we bordering on raising issues just for the sake of it?
Problem is that many airports in the sim are missing the necessary ground services to refuel. While some provide fuel trucks or refueling stations, many others don’t.
Even if they got refueling stations, depending on your aircraft you may not be able to use them without a pushback service.
There’s also the Problem of not being able to tell which ground services an airport provides on the map before the flight.
Thanks for introducing me to a new word. I assumed a typo but apparently its Italian for “plan”. ![]()
Yes, that feature is a cheat, but you can choose not to use it. I try to make sure I actually taxi to a refuelling spot, if possible, and ATC can direct you if it is. Littlenavmap is also great at highlighting these in yellow.
In-flight refueling is possible, also in other simulators on the market.
MSFS can be a simulator or an arcade game like any other.
The choice of one or the other is the user’s choice.
And whats the problem with that? Its not like game forcing you to do so, its more like option to different people, you can always call fuel truck using ATC and refuel this way if using toolbar is arcade to you and want more realistic experience, this simulator is made for people who want more arcade style experience and for people who want realism, so both sides are happy.
Just another post to distract attention from what is important. If you don’t like it, don’t use it, it’s very simple
Don’t do it then…
lol , this must be trolling …
i hope , otherwise we are doomed
Yes it is very unrealistic. Microsoft should make you do a full half hour preflight before they even let you inside the plane. Then you shouldn’t be allowed in any of the planes until you take the classroom training, instructor training, checkride. And don’t even mention the physical exams. I don’t know how Microsoft is going to simulate your prostate check? Going to be lots of CTDs doing those I bet.
Colon Takes Damage?
I think if you enforced training it would upset people. But I went through all the training scenarios, and found them rather enjoyable. Not enough to run through them again, but it was a nice experience.
If you dont plan payload and fuel prior to the flight then that’s unrealistic, I never refuel midflight
It’s normal for flight sims since the 80’s, yes. Don’t like it? Don’t use it and instead ‘simulate’ proper fuel planning so you don’t run empty. Simple. Case closed.
You can disable that option using the setting “gear”
Here’s a suggestion, Mr. “I am a hardcore simmer and I hate options that I can fully ignore.”
You can ignore it and even disable it, and it won’t be “arcade” anymore.
Incidentally, the use of the term “arcade” pretty much makes you sound ridiculous, but I’m sure you already knew that. ![]()
Someone here has certainly paid attention! 10 out of 10 for the self-own. ![]()
Spoiler alert: you can ![]()
You can just not use it.
Due to the fuel consumption bug it has saved me many times.
