It just occured to me that in the lead up to the launch of the sim, Asobo/Microsoft really bragged about the fact that they have ‘partnered’ up with various Aircraft manufacturers. To me at least, this gave the impression that this meant that the aircrafts they were building in the sim were going to be pretty accurate, so I was very surprised to see that most aircrafts have ‘inop’ switches and missing features.
Maybe I’m over thinking it, but to me I feel like that’s false advertising.
“Partnering up” is very open ended. ETS2 may have partnered up with Scania but i still couldn’t access all the little cupboards above the dashboard - i don’t think anyone accused them of false advertising.
Honestly, sure it would be better to have each and every switch working, but as I use only GA planes, for me the few which don’t operate are not all that important. I would also wait a bit to see what 3rd parties deliver, as I’m sure in a couple of weeks / months we will see incredible airplanes coming from other companies.
Microsoft claimed to have partnered up with various Aircraft manufacturers. If that was the claim then provided they did partner up with them there is no basis for a complaint. If you drew further conclusions from the fact they were in partnership that’s not really an issue for MS.
I think it meant that MS had started to share their SDKs and likely other details with developers, so that developers could start to develop their aircraft for MSFS2020.
It is interesting to read so many concerns about the default aircraft in this simulator, and nobody appears to have compared them with the default aircraft in every other simulators.
The QW 787 In P3D is better than the default MSFS2020? Sure!
The PMDG 747 In P3D is better than the default MSFS2020? Obviously!
We have just forgotten how long it took to get those aircraft for the previous simulators.
All the planes are still WIP (even says so in aircraft.cfg). People need to calm down the game got pushed early and they are actively improving all aspects of the platform.
I’m getting tired of all the unnecessary drama posts due to short sighted expectations it does no one any good.
You cannot use any of these logo\ name without license and be partner, this is since early FS. Like they stated on one Q&A. Not all aircraft have been tested from their pilot yet. All those licence below cost $$
Ps: Now they are waiting all real livery from all company to get in the sim.
Good point, yes I can see why that’s important. However, I do still think they used the ‘partnership’ tag to give the impression that aircrafts were being built accroding to the real things. Perhaps they will in the future, I just thought it was interesting.
Yeh, its super rushed. Alpha turned to Beta, beta turned to full release. But still plays like ■■■■.
Gonna probably be another year or 2 until its solid. I still get random CTD, not much has changed within the past 2 months.
I’m pretty sure they have. I’m also pretty sure they pushed the game out early. Was it because of Covid and everyone being at home and “virtual tourism”? Probably, but I don’t know. It’s been a wild year for every business in the world.
They do state clearly that the planes and the navigation systems are still a WIP. They allowed everyone to try the game for $1. I know it would be great if this was all a huge scam we could complain about but it just isn’t. It’s totally fair and requires patience.
Whoever bought this sim thinking the default aircraft would be study level are not, perhaps, avid simmers (and NO I am not knocking anyone in particular!!), regardless of what was expected and/or said by MS.
Once the third-party devs have the tools required to do their stuff and release thereal planes, no one will even care about the default aircraft - just like ALL the other sims.
So you (purposefully) misinterpreting the marketing and expecting study level aircraft from the word go is Microsoft’s fault? This is reddit tier levels of logic right there.
I don’t believe he used the word “study level” at any point mate. You’re strawmanning him. Many of the aircraft (not all) lack a significant number of features we really have come to expect even of default aircraft.
Compare if you will, the default C172 and Baron in MSFS2020 with their default counterparts in X-Plane 11. None are study level, and yet the latter variants have much more depth in system implementation.
This isn’t to say this will be the permanent state of things, but as it stands many of the default aircraft in MSFS2020 are woefully lacking of depth. And “study level” doesn’t even come into it.
If you really wanna be technical then call it “EVERY BUTTON, KNOB AND SWITCH WORKS” level or what have you. Doesn’t change the fact that somebody there obviously had unrealistic expectations from a Microsoft Flight Sim product. I’ve been away from the sim world for over 10 years and quite frankly don’t see why everybody is OH SO DISAPPOINT by things missing here and there.
Also, I really hate when people use “mate” on a forum.
Please jump off a cliff (in Minecraft). Thank you.
i also agree that they released the sim early because of COVID, but this does not make any difference for me. IF i did not buy it at release i would do it in 1 year. As i always say, as long as they stick to the “10 year development plan” and dont ditch this like MS FLight i am ok.
About study level aircraft and everything, i do not think their goal is “Sim enthusiast only”. Money talks and i believe they try to reach as much people as possible which mean more money, which means 10 years later we may see v2 with improvements.
This is like sim racing. They give you the software, rest is yours. If you have money and interest you can buy PMDG, ORBX sceneries, REX, ActiveSKY etc. IF you use this game/sim just for chilling you donot need them. This sim is enough for a beginner in its current state for VFR flying.
We are going to see lots of improvements. WE have VR coming, we have DX12, DSLL kinda tech stuff, we are going to have default scenery improvements, tons of 3rd parties developing.
But if you say i cannot see the graphic that i saw while watching the trailers on my screen right now, you may be right
