Antivirus Blocking 777 download

This was discussed a bit but a moderator told people to start a new thread to talk about it so that’s what I’m doing. I have Norton Lifelock to protect my PC and it’s proved very helpful over the past few months but today I purchased the 777 and then when I went to download it my PC blocked it. I’m not sure if it was windows protection or Norton but the download kept getting blocked. I looked on their website and it told me to disable the firewall but that seems kind of sketchy. Does anyone have advice and do you think it’s ok to disable the firewall to do this download. I also have not been able to get in touch with the company so that makes me a bit worried. Thanks!

A ton of flight sim add-ons are flagged as virus by various software. I wouldn’t worry about it. Mine flagged it too.

Ok thanks. So did you disable the firewall to do it or was yours different. It just makes me nervous to do that

It wasn’t a firewall for me. Windows Defender flagged it as a Trojan and removed the file. I had to tell it to Keep It and everything was fine.

Oh ok so when the file was blocked did you do the thing where you right click and then submit the file saying its safe? I saw that but didn’t fill it out

I didn’t. I just clicked on three dots and said Keep. It’s the ACE configuration manager that’s causing it. You might have an issue running it the first time. It may flag the executable.

Ok so overall it is safe and I shouldn’t be too worried about disabling windows defender and Norton for the download?

Correct. CS even posted on their forums about this and it’s safe.

Ok thx! Yeah I saw that but wasn’t sure if I could trust it as it just looked a bit sketchy

Depending on the AV vendor, they usually have a submission process where you can send files which you believe are false positives. Assuming your download is encrypted in some way, and you have the 3PD’s blessing, you could send a copy to the vendor to get them to identify why it was blocked, and fix it in a future definition update.

maybe because it’s a scam

It’s not really a scam I don’t think, it’s just a money-grab. I don’t think they are trying to put malware on my computer it’s just a bit nerve wracking to override virus protection and let software be downloaded. I honstly don’t care so much about how true to life it is as long as I can do some nice IFR flying and it looks good and it follows the flight plan

Hello everyone. For some reason my ACE.exe disappeared and after uninstalling and installing back the product, it still doesn’t show up. Now I am unable to download the liveries that come with it.

Any suggestions??

Your anti-virus quarantined it. Go look there.

Please stay on topic folks. There’s too many unconstructive and unhelpful replies appearing. We don’t want to action this thread.

Look where mate

I don’t know which anti-virus you have or where it puts quarantined files, so I can’t help you. But go look in your antivirus software somewhere.

Is anyone bothering to download this anymore ?
