Antonov-An2 in MSFS 2024 almost unflyable

I’m keeping this thread alive. Please Microsoft, please fix this one!

used to fly with the An2 a lot in msfs2020 as it is a popular airplane where I come from.

it is such a shame, that this plane is still not working after so long the community flagged the problem.. as of today, it gets barely to its cruising speed, it is a struggle to climb.

you guys, there is so much work and effort in this bird, you made it with love, please keep it updated! thanks!

You can fly it normally and it works fine for the most part IF you only select the left or right tank before starting the engine and then leave it there for the rest of the flight. Don’t try to switch to both tanks or the other tank after engine start or the engine will start acting up.

Of course that will lead to a fuel imbalance or fuel starvation over time on a longer flight but the fuel can be balanced/transferred on the fly via the EFB tablet. Still in need of a fix desperately, but this wordaround at least allows to fly the AN-2 instead of mothballing it.

Here she is minutes ago in FS2024 flying at the expected cruise speed of around a 100 knots:

Do the brakes work on the ground after starting the engine? My brakes do not work.

I tried yesterday, different combinations of switches during startup, but couldnt get the brakes to work…So sad, is it such a difficult thing to fix this?

The brakes worked for me (button press and axis). Make sure the brake system is engaged. If I recall correctly it’s one of the flip switches on the main panel. I can only check tonight when I’m back home.

EDIT: yup, here it is. Second row from the top, leftmost switch.

This must be on for the brakes to work. And they do work, differential braking and all. I just tested it. (It says “Inoperative” but that’s just a bogus tooltip):

There is some kind of floating error. In 80℅ of 100℅, the brakes don’t work. there is air in the system, the manometer (air gauge) shows that there is pressure, and the lever makes a clicking sound, but the wheel brake doesn’t hold. The only solution is to restart the flight, and sometimes more than once. There are three things that frustrate me about this aircraft:

1- the fuel system doesn’t work properly (the sum of the tanks doesn’t work).

2- there are errors in the brake system when loading the flight.

3- Incorrect operation of the radio altimeter alarm (the alarm is constantly sounding, but it should automatically turn off)

What does the NAV on this device do?
As far as I know, it only has an ADF.
I understand the NAV channel on that device in the screenshot recognizes VOR or ILS.
However, since the AN-2 only has an ADF, I believe the NAV on that device is useless.

The GNS530/430 model cannot be started from the ground.(at the parking area, not the runway)
Other standard models start without issue.

I’ve been asking this question when it came out. I concluded that it’s there for the COM radio only.

This work around helped me, but you’re right that there’s no way to switch fuel tanks without activating the glitch that brings you down every time. I couldn’t even restart the engine in air. Please fix this one Microsoft!

In flight, you can change the fuel in the tanks using the tablet every 15 to 20 minutes. In this case, you can leave the fuel tap on the left or right group of tanks during the flight.

This aircraft is a cult item in Europe and it would be a great shame not to fix it. Besides, we paid for this product and it would be fair if we received a functional product for our money.

Massively under powered. I cannot find a way to turn off that floodlight behind the pilots, so night flying is a no-go.

An update came probably yesterday (1.7.5 is available now in both sims) I had a little test in 2024 but it seems even worse than before. Looks like for example using a single tank won’t fix the underpowered state anymore on my end. All other bugs like GNS variant won’t start and no brake action is still there.

Also no changelog.

Still working fine for me. Taking off from a field at an elevation of 4,152 feet and still no problem climbing and cruising at expected speeds (~100 knots). You just can never put the fuel selector to the Both setting, not even to get to the right tank. That will break it.

P.S: oh yeah, and moving the mixture to 0% will trigger the bug as well. There is no coming back, even if you increase the mixture again. So make sure that you don’t have a hardware binding that moves the mixture to cut-off unintentionally .

Still not working for me. I was only on the left tank, haven’t had the mixture on cutoff and still losing all the energy at about 200 ft.

Please fix this plane Microsoft!! We paid for it after all, and it’s amazing when it’s in a working state

Same here. I was underpowered at full throttle on take off and crashed into some nearby terrain.

Could be a separate version for 2024, or maybe won’t work in general. some Local Legend planes are still broken on ’24
