Any advise for a Yoke!

I would like to buy a yoke to have it ready for PMDG. Any idea where I can buy a good one:-)

If you’re just getting started in this fascinating world and just want to “get your feet wet” I would recommend first purchasing a less expensive joy-stick. There are several on the market but perhaps one of the best values today is the Logitech 3D Pro going for just a little over $30 on Amazon, today:
Amazon.com: Logitech G Extreme 3D Pro Joystick for Windows - Black/Silver : Video Games
I moved up eventually to the Logitech (Saitek) Yoke and Throttle Quadrant, considerably more expensive.
But if cost is not an issue, there are many others that deliver much more in the way of realism and performance. Good luck and happy flying!

The Logitech pro flight yoke is my favorite yoke and it comes with a throttle I highly recommend that along with the Logitech rudder pedal and autopilot panel (if you keep expanding your setup it saves you tons of time with ifr flights) I also recommend making a lower keyboard tray Mount underneath it for your build

I bought my Honeycomb Alpha direct from manufacturer and the pedals from amazon.
I have heard many recommendations for Sporty’s but I have not dealt with them.

My thoughts on my peripherals:

  • Yoke: I am very pleased with the build quality of the Honeycomb Alpha, I’d consider it top end of consumer grade.

  • Joystick: If you are looking for a high quality controller on the low/medium price range, I was pleased with the Thrustmaster T16000m Joystick

  • IIRC the Thrustmaster T16000m is identical manufacturer, sensor and buttons as Airbus TCA Sidestick

  • Throttle: I do not recommend the Thrustmaster T16000m Throttle from their HOTAS bundle, its action was sticky.

  • Throttle: I do recommend Honeycomb Bravo, great build quality and functionality. Expensive

  • Rudder: I have logitech G Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. They have lasted a year but I doubt they will make 5. I can’t judge them fairly or recommend them because I haven’t felt real planes pedal feedback and I’m not using them correctly in flight.

  • Previously I have got by fine without pedals, using 360 controller triggers or Rudder Assist during landing.

  • I’d buy in order joystick > throttle > yoke > pedals.

  • Stick is better than Yoke for helicopter/Elite Dangerous/DCS

  • Check craigslist/OfferUp/facebook for people selling them near you, you may find great deals

Putting in my recommendation for the Honeycomb Alpha as well. It’s a great piece of kit, but its $270 price tag may be more than you want to spend if you’re just getting into it.

I have a Thrustmaster T16000M joystick which I played with the space sim Elite Dangerous, I would definitely not consider it as high quality. You can read a lot about it on the net and YouTube, it uses a cheap potentiometer which fails easily, causing the undesirable yaw movement by itself. Mine happened less than 6 months of gaming on Elite Dangerous, I had to disassemble the joystick, trimmed and adjusted the potentiometer four times, for temporary fix each time. After the fourth attempt, I gave up and bought the more expensive and a lot better quality VKB Gladiator MkII joystick.

P.S. I just bought MSFS 2020 recently, have not installed and played it yet, so I’m a new member to this forum. I have however ordered the Honeycomb Alpha yoke, the Logitech Pro Flight throttle quadrant and the Logitech Pro Flight rudder pedals. Looking forward to learning to fly in this game.

I have heard lots of recommendations for this yoke: https://fulcrumsim.com/product/fulcrum-one-yoke/

It says out of stock on the website but if you just click order they’ll add you to the list. I think it’s currently about 2-3 week wait time. May be worth it if you don’t need it urgently.

The question is slightly complicated by your budget. There are yokes, and joysticks, at many price ranges.

Mine are lasting since about 10years and still going. They are not the best, but do the job. I replaced the logitech yoke and throttle with honeycomb, but for the pedals, i have not felt the need yet to replace them. But i will once the honeycomb ones are out.
Do they feel like real ones? No. But thats hardly ever the case with any consumer peripherals anyway. Unless you go for the very top end, but thats a completely different price class.

I just received one of these this week and it’s very impressive - a noticeable step up over the HC Alpha. Highly recommended.

Did anyone try the Thrustmaster Boeing yoke? It looks amazing but damns it is 499 plus tax.

Whoever was on the last pre-order run should have received or shortly be receiving these units. It’s a shame they can’t build up some stock but I know they have been struggling with part supply issues as are many others.
