Any AMD R9 5950X Users?

pic coming

Precision Boost overdrive should be in Enabled (not Advanced) … for now (yes i know the other options will disappear)… Keeping it very simple for now. Will add complexity later
I’m more interested to see whats going on on the AI tweaker page. Can you post a screenshot of that ?

and that’s it? It was enabled.

Your screenshot is showing ā€œadvancedā€ Anyway … screenshot of the AI tweaker page ?

I was just showing options.

Not AI Tweaker. Advanced.

Understood … .no worries. Im trying to track down the manual Overclock so im kinda trying to look in the usual settings where ASUS kind of trips up an end user by doing overclocks , such as TPU II settings and thats usually found on the AI Tweaker page so a screenshot of that would be great.

AI Overclock tuner needs to say DOCP.
FCLK (Infinity fabric) clock needs to be Auto unless DOCP changes the settings when you selected DOCP
Once you Select DOCP the memory frequency box should populate with the appropriate frequency
Performance Enhancer Disabled
and Finally that OC tuner thing above Performance Bias … should be ā€œkeep current settingsā€

And yep you are running a Manual all core overclock according to your screenshot of the AI tweaker page… If you notice the CPU target frequency is showing 4000Mhz That should not be. It should be your base frequency for your cpu which is 3400Mhz (Dont fret the cpu goes much faster than that lower frequency when configured properly)

I saw 5000MHz on a 5950X on Time Spy with a single 3090

Settings> hitting F10 in 3…2…1

[]() Double vision?

DOCP selected DDR 3600 ??Sweet !! Everything looks decent … You said you saw your cpu go to 5 ghz running time spy?

Complete time spy post screenshot.
Suspense is killing me …

No it was someone else’s computer on Time Spy’s posted results.
Going to run Time Spy before I crash. Post again tomorrow. THANKS FOR THE TIPS!!! :raised_hands:

Time Spy 17454/GPU 18881@66Cel./CPU12222@55Cel. 4001MHz Clock Freq.

So I did a new paste job.
I was expecting lower temperature or at least something close to what I had.
But the results were against my expectations.

Running 40 degrees on idlešŸ˜‚

Why?

Now I did some reading and found out that it is normal and within spec of 5000 series cpu’s.

But how can you explain this story?
Compared to my system its roughly a 12 degrees difference.

It puzzles mešŸ˜…

I had specified it, my pc is in a room at 19 °, I have a very good air flow, the PBO set on ā€œmotherboardā€ and the Curve Optimizer very well adjusted.
I have very good temperatures, but you have to take into account the ongoing processes.
When I talk about IDLE, it’s without any software, browser, etc., just antivirus and Icue (Corsair).
Check your task manager and close unnecessary running applications.

Time Spy CPU Score: 16370 for information.

The graphics card increases the temperature on a cooler, not on an AIO system …

Guess you still have that manual overclock running…you gotta have someone turn that off. I tried… but I think you may have to have someone take a complete look into the bios to get it sorted. Your cpu is being handicapped by that manual all core overclock which doesn’t help your system performance.

Bottom line … your cpu is supposed to Boost to 4.9-5ghz single core… somehow its locked at 4ghz and wont go past 4. can someone try to help the OP please and NOT try to over complicate things by talking about curve optimizer and motherboard voltage and current limits ?

Once the CPU is properly configured THEN talk about temps because right now we have no idea if the CPU is just straight up running at 4ghz all core as opposed to properly being set up the cpu logic would only use the required cores as needed which may result in a temp drop.

Honestly i think you should find someone who can configure your pc properly. (And im not talking about curve optimized overclocking) Its a shame that the hardware is not being utilized as it should.

80C is normal for 5950X. Your case is important factor here as well. E.g Airflow, positive or negative pressure , exhaust fan behind noctua vice versa. You can also upgrade thermal paste to NT-H2 if yours came with H1, 3 less degrees for me.

Unless you are gonna build custom water cooling, you will not see high reduction in temperature with using 360 AIO’s. (e.g user of Artic Freezer II 420 + 5900, 70 Degree max).

Long story short, switching from NH-D15 to AIO-360 (EKWB, Artic, NZXT, Corsair etc) will not show you 60 Degrees. Enjoy your setup, looks pretty solid

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Curve Optimizer can vary from chip to chip. Seen posts from users who set -15 or -20 on CCD1 and CCD2 respectively.
