Any way to save/load A320 state?

Hello,

I’m using the Flybywiresim A320 neo aircraft and I have been through some quite big frustrations (to remain polite) to be forced to re-do all the cockpit preparation, fligh plan in the MCDU etc. etc. Just right now, FS2020 crashed just after take off and I really don’t feel like starting everything over from scratch!
I was wondering if there is any way to save the state of the flight and all the aircraft settings and just reload it to resume the flight where it has been saved? I feel like this should be quite a basic feature but couldn’t find how to do this.

Can you let me know if such a feature exists or if you have any workaround if it does not?

Thanks a lot!

No such feature exists, which is ridiculous because it’s a fundamental feature.
Sorry, I don’t know of a workaround.

I believe there is a way.
You must modify the apron.flt file in the FBW sim object airplane folder in the Community folder.
It will also be overwritten when you update the FBWA 320, so keep a copy to replace it with before you update.

A transit check state would be nice (APU and systems running, engines off of course, ready to refuel & load up the MDCU).

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the tip. However in this file I cannot find any parameter for FOB or for the MCDU settings which is where I spend the most time.
Also do you know if this file is a default configuration that is never overwritten or if changes can be saved from by FS2020 somehow?

No, you won’t find those in there.
This will only give, as you noticed, MSFS parameters.
It will indeed be overwritten with an MSFS update.
Do you use Simbrief to plan a flight?

hello
I have a question and I hope it is not too much off topic.
after turning on the power in the a32nx FBW from C&D, should the flight director also turn on automatically? mine always turn on as soon as I power up the aircraft…

Yes, mine does as well.

Yes I do use Simbrief

Just asking, as the latest way to import simbrief plans into the MCDU/flypad works quite well and is a lot quicker.

Ah! Did not know about that, I will give it a try thanks!

So, my attempt to use the simbrief integration was successful and this is somewhat helpful to gain a little time. Although it didn’t help much for me with the flight plan because I have a rather simple flight plan which only requires one airway additionally to the SID and STAR which has to be added manually anyway. Appart from that it’s useful to enter the basic information in INIT A but it doesn’t setup INIT B and in PERF I would expect that it would at least be able to fill the transition altitude which it does not.

But it’s at least helping a little (thanks!) I really hope however that Microsoft will figure out a way to save and load a complete state, including the plane position in the air for example. This could be awesome to practice multiple times the same landing for example with and without failures without having to reset the entire flight, take off, navigate and land again…

IRL no the FD does not automatically turn on (from memory anyway). It’s rare that you would ever start the A320 from cold & dark IRL though. I’ve done it 4 times in 6 years of flying the bus.

Interesting, who does it for you then?

Generally left in the state after the last flight.

That’s what I was thinking, but still only 4 times in 6 years? It must mean you’re never taking the early shifts

Even a lot of times then, maintenance will take the aircraft to the gate.

FYI: I’ve found this issue opened for the FBW model: Fully Simulated Automatic Flight Director Engagement after Power-On · Issue #4242 · flybywiresim/a32nx · GitHub

This states that FD should automatically turn on and they provide a video from real cockpit to prove it.

Engineering does it! They do the initial startup and daily inspection before the first flight of the day. Obviously if it’s been flying overnight, then it will just be in its transit state.
