I am trying to get all “A’s” on my landing challenge. Some seem impossible.
On the basic one, I can only score a “B” on the 2 747 landings. On the Epic Page, I have 4 that I can’t seem to earn an A… It seems likesome flight model really fight me, by skidding when I land, or induce a high bounce despite a good landing. Any thoughts?
Control your approach speed (aprox 1.3x stall speed) and remain stable until crossing over the threshold at about 50 feet. Aim for about 500 feet before the landing zone. As you cross the threshold reduce power slowly and begin the landing “flair” around 20-30 AGL, and hold it off. Maintain centerline control, and correct for crosswinds. Hope this helps…. ![]()
I am a extremely experienced simpilot. It is the behavior of the ■■■■■■ flight model that prevents me from getting 1,000,000 points. I have 900,000 on both 747 landing challenges. I seem to lose 2 and 3 engine - and need to re-start. Sometimes I lose all 4 engines!!! Sometimes i lose none. Flawed challenge. Then I always score low on ground roll on the 747 even if I am dead center on the landing. So my question is:
are you simply completing the landing or are you scoring >1,000,000 points on the 747 landing challenges??
I got an A on all of them (including all the extra ones from world updates).
I’d say it took no more than 5 tries on most, and the only one that took more than 10 tries was the Skyline Idaho one which is very tricky. I think I worked out that took over 100 attempts.
The 747 is indeed bugged in the landing challenges at the moment and Asobo refuse to address it. You should vote for the topic in the bug report section and add your experience there - the more people that do this the more likely they will take it seriously.
That said it is possible to get the engines running again just by clicking 2 buttons (centre fuel pumps IIRC) so I just do this at the start of those challenges and then you don’t have to worry about engine failure.
If you are skidding or bouncing it is not a good landing. You can definitely land (especially the 747) without skidding or bouncing. Make sure your approach speed is right, and that you are aligned on the centreline. In the 74 this looks very different to smaller planes - you are a lot higher off the ground when you flare, and if you have crosswind correction in you need your MAIN GEAR to be on centreline so in the cockpit you need to be on the upwind side of the runway. As soon as you touch down with crosswind correction you need to get the plane aligned with the runway (before landing the nose gear) to prevent from going sideways off of the centreline.
