I’m loving fs2024, kind of Airbus heavy at the moment, fs2024 needs to add two Boeing models (please add a default 767 300) and a 757 200 would also be very practical and interesting (I know blue bird is making one but I need one I can play with in career mode so we could fly the two most popular Boeing’s) because I want more choice for heavy cargo
Me too, I’m having that much trouble now with 2020 I’m not sure I can take anymore!
But that’s what I’m asking. What is it besides career mode which I will not end up using, that you love about 2024? What flight specific things, like realism of the landscapes, flight models, clouds, performance, etc etc… what is it about 2024 that you feel is superior to 2020 assuming that you tried 2020 first.
For me it was a mixture of things finally coming together around the time of SU4. Huge performance increases for VR (simply no contest now vs how it was with 2020), better low and slow graphics (rocks and trees especially), a desire for Bijan’s Seasons Enhanced mod (the 2020 version was as good as dead), and certain aircraft - eg Taog’s OH6A - being 2024 only. Other benefits include vastly improved initial loading times, less disk space used (I’ve never had a problem with streaming) and probably a bunch of other minor this and that things that have all helped.
Fs2024 is a huge awesome upgrade to flight simulator, walk around mode is awesome for photo shots of the aircraft, the keyboard commands are easier (you can select fs2020 keyboard shortcuts in settings), i have fs2004, fsx, fs2020, and fs2024, and fs2024 is way better, the settings are more user friendlier, and you don’t have to wait days to reinstall fs2024, (fs2020 takes me two days to install) plus you can go into content manger and fully download aircraft (some do have streaming issues if you don’t download fully)
Well, as I said before, the walkarounds, photos, etc. don’t interest me, just flying, realistic visuals, systems, aircraft, flightplanning, etc… all things I have in 2020. Better visuals and weather would entice me to try 2024. The recent Nat’l Parks update that was only for 2024 looks amazing and I am concerned that visual upgrades like that will stop being offered for 2020.
However, I would need to buy my favorite airline, PMDG 737, again and I suspect a few other aircraft. I have read that the vast majority of airport addons will work in 2024, so that is encouraging… still waiting, especially waiting to see the reaction to the next sim update for 2025 (SU5?), and the SU17 for 2020 before making the final decision.

Did you not even read my post? I couldn’t care less about career modes. I want a flightsim.
I read it, some other flight simmers (like myself) get bored of just free flight and need other activities to have fun also because when I stayed in fs2020 I got bored of free flight
And you have every right to to enjoy the software however you want. But you responded specifically to my post, after I had said that I wasn’t interested in those things so I thought that was kind of odd.
I am of course still with 2020 but considering 2024 if I hear enough people on this forum talking about how it is better in the things that are important to flight simming, including realistic landscapes, systems, UI.. And of course performance and stability.
I am learning a lot from posts by users who have both.
For the people switching around I recommend saving your fs2020 data on an external hard drive so you can always plug in the drive and keep the game files installed to the drive but make sure you label your drives 
(the usb wire should work with PS5 and Xbox’s)
So … After reading A LOT of posts here, here’s a big “Duh!”. Rather than continually wondering and asking others’ opinions, I am just going to go ahead and get MSFS2024 and see for myself. Worst case scenario is it sits on a separate SSD and I go back to 2020. (and I’m out under $100 all told)
I did watch a bunch of YouTube comparisons and I think I like the clarity, clouds and lighting of 2024. Many say the flight modeling is a bit better as well. The other, “gamey” stuff doesn’t interest me and won’t get used. I have great internet (so that’s no issue) and it seems 2024 performs slightly better than 2020 and loads quicker. Plus, very sad but very true, developers (and eventually Asobo) are going to offer very little (if any) upgrades or new products for 2020 (it’s already happenning). Most of my 2020 addons will work on MSFS2024 and there’s only a couple of planes that I’ll have to pay for the 2024 "upgrade (PMDG discounts when you already own the 2020 version).
Do I look forward to setting my cameras and hardware bindings again? HELL, NO! But, more and more, I see screenshots from 2024 that look amazingly more detailed (the recnt Nat’l Parks blew me away.
I split my time doing airline routes and slower, lower GA.
Last note- When I got 2020, I went for the Premium Dlx edition. I wanted as much airport and aircraft as I could get. Now, having a couple of years experience, I can see that all I need is the Standard 2024. The only planes I fly 90% of the time are ones I bought and I own addons for most of the airports I like, so why pay for more of Asobo’s?
Anyway, I’ll report back. Thanks to all who have posted on this thread.
Aircraft subsystems can be simulated at a much higher fidelity in 2024.

I am in the very same boat as you.
I would also be very interested in your opinion of the user interface.
That is the main thing I am wary about.
VR user here. I am super content with my switch to 2024. It’s such a nice experience in VR.
If what was explained around the MSFS 2024 launch still holds true, I believe if you have the MSFS 2020 licence for Premium Deluxe, your premium content transfers to MSFS 2024 even if you just buy the Standard edition.
You don’t automatically get the NEW FS2024-specific premium aircraft and airports, but if you sign in with the same account that you used for MSFS 2020, the premium deluxe aircraft and airports that you have access to in your MSFS 2020 version should also automatically appear in MSFS 2024, although they may not appear until your second sign-in.

I am going to setup my joystick and throttle today. I messed around with bindings yesterday and it was pretty confusing after being used to 2020.
Most bindings are the same for every aircraft I fly- gear, flaps, trim, etc with a couple of changes for f1 or two aircraft, like water rudder for an amphibean etc… Once I have my “base” control profile, I will duplicate that profile,make the changes for that specific aircraft and name it accordingly. I’m sure it can’t be brain surgery but it will be a lot of work because there are so many functions already assigned to the hardware I’m using and I will have to delete those one by one.
But there is a very good video onn YouTube and I will follow it step by step.
I will post here my experience…
