Anyone having these random issues with HP reverb g2?

Hello guys,

It already happened to me that when entering VR I got a black screen and could not see anything. The WMR seemed ok but my headset was black. I solved the problem by restarting my PC… another day I entered VR and the left microphone was distorted, every sound was like setting the volume extremely loud, restating the PC solved my problem.

Is these normals stuff?

Thanks for any feedback!

This is not normal. But I have had the same problems.
I had the distorted sound once.

I also had the black screen with the G2. I got around the problem in my case by switching to VR as soon as the MSFS selection screen appears. From there I make all inputs only in VR.

Oddly enough, I haven’t had the black screen issue before. It arises after switching from a GTX 1070 to an RTX 2080. The UK update came out very simultaneously, making it difficult to pinpoint the cause.

I also know the problem with the disturbed sound. I solved it by switching to a different USB port.

It’s not pretty, but as long as there is a workaround…

Well pretty weird, at the moment is back to normal, I guess I have to tested more… but good to know that is not my headset with a defect!

Since the WU3, I sometimes get a black screen when switching to VR.

In every case, pressing CTRL-TAB to get back to PC screen and CTRL-TAB again to revert to VR does the trick without having to anything else.

I’m running the MS Store version with WMR on a Lenovo headset.

I had all those problems and more with my G2. It would not stay connected. The headset would go black and the audio would ping pong back and forth from the headset to the PC speakers.

It got so bad that I called HP and they agreed to replace it with a new one. Waiting for the replacement but I am not optimistic. I think HP rushed this to market.

My G2 is new (3 weeks). During my first few weeks I experienced the same set of issues you are describing.

I finally realized that whenever or however I tried to ‘turn-on’ VR outside of the MSFS2020 main screen (where the World is in the upper left) I would suffer some negative consequence. I now follow a particular startup process: I start Steam, start MSFS2020, wait for it to completely load to that main screen, then plug the G2 headset cable plug into the switch box, put on the headset to trigger the Mixed Reality Portal (MRP) to load, ensure I can peek under the headset to see my monitor and patiently wait for the Ctrl-Tab option to initiate VR to show up, then, click Ctrl-Tab and watch as the headset screen transitions from MRP to the MSFS2020 main screen in VR, I then proceed to interact with the program as I would in 2d and go fly.

This procedure has eliminated the issues I experienced before and has been very repeatable. I hope this helps.
