I was flying South/West towards Hamilton from Toronto, and so much of the map was completely messed up, rivers and roads up in the air, insane topology which made no sense. What’s going on?
Only Credit River is messed up with the terrain spike issue.
Was like this when first released and was fixed in a later update. But problem came back with the update that created the terrain spike issues. Never been fixed after that.
Mind you other than the Credit River the rest of it is pretty good.
That reminds me of the Huge Missing Bridge spans on the interstate 10 in Pensacola, FL KPNS.
I reported that way back in 2020 through zendesk several times. We love seeing the cars driving across the water in Escambia and Pensacola Bay. They work for months and months on trying to fix silly little cloud formations but never seem to fix missing bridge spans or critical Nav equipment. O well… I have to try and remember it is just a game with no, obvious, end objective.
I also found that the water textures are quite blocky near the shore of Lake Ontario, just west of Billy Bishop. Has been this way since launch (I think).
It ■■■■■■ me off so much that I up and moved to Nova Scotia.
Well, from an old NS’er to a newbie, welcome!
I like your name, I worked for NS Power for 30 some years.
What exactly are you referring to by map? Do you mean the in-game vfr map? Or the actual virtual world of the sim itself. Also, what plane and altitude were you? I fly out of YYZ all the time and have never noticed these issues you describe.
Granted, I fly IFR so I don’t spend too much time looking outside.
Cheers!
I would assume he meant the terrain
Yea, upon further review that was a dumb question from me haha.
Still, I’ve yet to see it.
Cheers
My bet his data is turned off.
Do you have any screenshots? Specific location we can test?
This is quite a good summary of FS2020 overall.
There’s a scenery enhancement on flightsim.to that fixes a lot of the issues.
I’ve not flown around Toronto much but I have flown into CYYZ a couple times and the runway lights at least for Rwy 23 are a good 20 feet above the actual ground floating in the air.
Hehe, I appreciate it, @TheSevenflyer! NS is majestic - I’ve moved countless times in my life, and for the first time I feel I want to stay.
See you around!
Yup - confirmed (just west of TO):
Worth a zendesk - terrain issues seem to be fixed pretty quick by the team.
Odd, I fly this route almost daily to London or Kitchener/Waterloo. I haven’t seen this myself, but I do see the very bad super blocky areas of water right at Billy Bishop and surrounding at the coast.
Here’s what I was referring to earlier regarding the water textures of Lake Ontario close to Billy Bishop. Kinda annoying everytime I see it, but also not the biggest problem in my life by any means.
Edit: I should also add that I have a 100 Mbps internet connection, so download speed isn’t the problem.
That is exactly what I see, I have seen this mentioned somewhere on this forum. That was probably about a year ago that I saw this post. I have the same results with either Vanilla Toronto or with the Roman Designs GTA addon
What a find a little weird is that Billy Bishop is a handcrafted airport, but the water around looks looks so janky. It would have made sense to clean that up in the process of building the airport.
But like I said, not the biggest problem in my life at the moment…
