Application Error Message

Hi All
Sometimes after having a session on MSFS I get this application Error message appear when shutting down the PC after flight simming. Any ideas on what the cause could be. Like I say doesn’t appear every time just now and again.

Pc spec:
AMD 7800x3d
4070 ti super
X670E Tomahawk MB
32GB DDr 5

I’m wondering why you’re reporting a Windows system error related to explorer.exe on the MSFS game forum.
You can easily find several suggestions on Google
explorer.exe the memory could not be written - Google

and you can also report this on official Windows Feedback Hub.

BTW, if I remember correctly you were considering switching from Xbox to the PC. Do you currently have your Xbox controller connected to your PC?

Do you have any MSFS addons that run as an application in tandem with MSFS? It could be that one of these is not shutting down cleanly when you exit MSFS.

Just the usual items such as GSX and BATC. I do have an Xbox controller plugged in for use for the drone camera.
Pc is only used for fight sim so was unsure if related to the sim or hardware issue.

I also have an Xbox controller plugged in and configured as a drone camera, & have never seen your issue on my PC, so I think that possibility is unlikely. I also have no 3rd-party apps running either, though.

I do occasionally see this type of error message when shutting down the PC in other situations (unrelated to MSFS) - hence my question. For example, I occasionally see it when using the windows disk cleanup utility just before I shut down the PC. However, your issue may be caused by something else entirely.

Both of you have reported an issue with explorer.exe and it’s clear that both of you are using an Xbox controller.

I asked in my first post whether the Xbox controller is connected - like I mentioned, this is a Windows bug and it may not necessarily be related to Xbox controllers as it affects many different types of controllers. You can find more information in the link below.

Please note that you must be logged into Feedback Hub app to access the linked topic. If you’re not logged in, you won’t be able to read it.

As I mentioned earlier and in my first post, the pop-up with the explorer.exe error is a Windows system bug, not an issue with MSFS or hardware.

Fly safe.

That’s all I needed to know. As this is my first Pc I’ve built just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a hardware issue, something I’ve installed wrong or anything related to the sim .

Thanks
