Approach help

Auto Pilot will fly these paths shown on Map??? how is it?

Which aircraft you mean?

Now flying with Gran Caravan

If you are on autopilot. Press the APPR button to tell the GPS to follow the approach (assuming you have setup an ILS or RNAV approach in your GPS. You typically want to activate this when you are near or on the locallizer or approach heading and before you intercept the glideslope (i.e. you are farther from the runway threshold than where the final approach fix (faf) is and are therefore below the glideslope).

If you are unfamiliar with the above, I suggest YouTube for outstanding instruction and information. I also suggest viewing actual in real life videos over content developed in game. IRL information is universal on any platform, and it will help you identify if there is any deviation/shortcomings that are apparent in a 3rd party developers addon regarding avionics implementation.

As a result, you will know what’s suppossed happen when you command your aircraft to do something, and you can make adjustments to how the addon is implemented. It will help you find workarounds to shortcomings and understand why people posted those workarounds for those shortcomings.

As an addition to the advice above, when you took off, on the PFD you can press Direct to, it will show you the next waypoint in the flight plan, and then press the Enter button, which will activate it. You can then press NAV on the autopilot and it will direct you through the flight plan. When you get to the approach then you might need to press again direct to, for me it was always losing it at that time. Then you can do the approach as described by Kapustick.

tnx

familiar with rnav and ils, dme etc…

career is making me flying on really ghost small airport where none of the mentioned navaid exists…

so i you click on efb visual approach it gives you a route…but dunno, not sure if the gps follows it

You can check the airports before accepting the mission. You can open up EFB and check the airport details, you will see the size of the airport and the runaway details. This can help you to filter out too small airports. You can also turn on the satellite image on the EFB map to actually check how it looks like. The caravan can handle most very small airports but for example the pc-12 can’t (talking about 400-600m runaways). I liked the ghost airports, it felt remote and exciting, but when I just wanted a smooth ride, I scouted missions with medium airports. Maybe too small airports don’t have guided approaches. You can also change approach procedure in the EFB and see what approaches are available.

Most small airports also offer Vectors to Final when you select Visual XX approach in your GPS. It will give you lateral and vertical guidance for non instrument approach equipped airfields. Someone in another thread said the in game autopilot of the Caravan works with vectors to final, but I usually fly them manually.
