Hi, you can call me: John
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox
I am playing MSFS because I’ve always loved airplanes, and I always wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid. Even though that dream changed, I still love airplanes.
I used to play MSFS since version 3.0, then 4.0, '98, and now the newest one. I plan on taking all the Flight Lessons to refresh my memory, and now that I am older I have the patience to teach myself about navigation, ATC, etc.
Currently struggling with using MSFS with the standard Xbox controller, so I would love to add some actual controls, mouse and keyboard to my Xbox; recommendations welcomed.
My home airport is SJO / MROC.
Hi @Apocalypse1309 ! Welcome here!
That’s exactly how I started with MSFS too; learning about navigation ATC and trying to fly kind of like they do IRL.
I’d suggest #gd-commsupport:tech-talk and the peripherals section over there. Maybe you’ll find what you’re looking for!
Happy flying!
Mouse and keyboard are useful, any will suffice. Be aware a lot of joysticks won’t work on the Xbox. Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas one will, as will the Turtle Beach Velocity One joystick….and their yoke.
Happy flying.
Hello John. My name is Rich. Soon to have Xbox X. Had the S, traded it for the X! Using Thrustmaster HOToS One, Controller and Mouse. Retired, will be on most days when new console gets here.
Live in Alaska.

Welcome @Apocalypse1309 to the forum ![]()
See you in the skies!
Hey I play msf, dcs, bf5 mostly. I am interested in the cinematic potential of flight sims.
Why’s that?
Welcome to the forum! If you have any questions about navigating the site, or have questions about MSFS, feel free to ask.
Happy flying!
Just introducing myself, hi!
Somewhat new to Flight Sims! Been using an Xbox One controller on PC playing MSFS and decided I’d take a stab at getting a HOTAS setup.
That’s what brought me here actually; ordered a VBK Sim Premium stick and to hold me over I got myself a Thrustmaster stick. Like the TM so much (VBK arrives next Tuesday) that now I’m between a Virpil, Winwing, or Thrustmaster Warthog throttle.
Hope I can find those with experience here to chime in on my decision!
I guess I should add that my only aim is to play MSFS and no other Flight Sims. Watching so many reviews I’m swayed one way towards the Warthog due to simple plug and play, but read/hear about Virpils responsiveness and many controls. The downfall being its software. Then the Winwing is supposed to be a good ‘balance’ of the two with better software and decent quality.
Hello Kwikvette. Welcome to MSFS. I’m on XBox X. Formally on an S. Using Thrustmaster HOTAS One Joysrich and Throttle. Very happy with it. Plug and Play right of the box! Retired, on most days.
Co-Pilot in the Forum. Can assist you if needed. Add me.

Additional display. I have Medion 23" display with HDMI input. I want to make this primary display and 16" notebook display secondary. I go to Display settings and extend to right for main display, but left display has notebook startup background. How do I make left display, VFR track, ATC calls, etc other views, please?
Welcome to the forum!! ![]()
I’ve been lurking here for a while, but I suppose I should introduce myself ![]()
You can call me Tori. I started flight simming with FS95 and gave up FSX for MSFS (PC) almost one year ago, and I’ve not looked back. I’m a commercial pilot, musician, self-taught amateur digital artist, and a poor excuse for an author. Retro transportation is my passion: piston liners and first-generation jets, the Blue Riband liners, and the late steamers and early diesels.
I’ve tried virtual airlines in the past, and while I’m satisfied by a well-executed IFR flight, I really love low and slow VFR flying these days. The JP Logistics 152, Duckworks’ DC-3 modification, and the brilliant SWS Zenith CH701 are my current go-to machines.
That’s the high points of my bio. Glad to be here! ![]()
Welcome here Tori!
Hi from Italy!
I’m new to the forum but I have had some experience with FSX (I really enjoyed Machado’s content) some time ago.
I have now given FS2020 a go and really like it so far. I’m trying to use the sim in the most realistic way possible (without shouting clear prop from the window). I guess there’s a part of me that still wants to have a PPL, which is exactly what I’m doing, as soon as I win the lottery.
