My 2020 is about 300GB. 2024 looks significantly smaller. I’ve flown twice in 2024 and in both cases, it seems like the landscape has to download. Am I just not seeing things right? With the new version is there nothing stored locally as in what if you want to play with no internet? I saw the option during install about the ability to play off line and I chose that. But it seems like everything still needs to download. Anyone offer some insight in this regard?
Almost everything gets downloaded now. Most of the sim is stored on servers.
Yes, the entire world is streamed. In the future there might be options to download some areas and store it locally. But the game does store some of it in cache. That’s why the servers couldn’t handle everyone connecting for the first time. No one had it cached yet so everyone was trying to download the world.
Well that kinda sucks. I’ve got decent internet at 150 mb on a good day but even that wasn’t really good enough and FS even complained about my bandwidth. No choice at getting anything faster and I feel lucky to get that where I live.
Don’t worry, everyone is getting that message. It’s the server. I have 4gb/s and am getting it also.
Good to know. Hopefully just a growing pain. God knows we had those with 2020.
