Are there birds in MSFS2024?

I’ve seen some reports on other forums over the past few weeks that people have seen birds and been warned about them by ATC.

Are they in the base sim now?

I’ve always needed the Birds Add-On from SouthOak to get bird traffic/hazards. I haven’t seen this mentioned in the Release Notes?

Never heard of FLYING birds by default. Saw recently a report of someone watching pigeons flock on apron.

I have some 3rd party sceneries that have birds flying around but I’ve never seen them at our around a default airport/scenery

I have a feeling there are no actual physical 3D birds in the sim by default. When ATC/ATIS warns about them, it will be because it was mentioned in the METAR/TAF. But I don’t think they’re physically represented.

To add actual birds, you’ll need a 3rd party addon, like South Oaks FS Birds, which is quite fun.

Note that these are just injected visual objects, ATC won’t warn you about them or anything.

I’ll often pretend engine out etc if I hit one I like autorotations now :sweat_smile:

I think is high time a global birds w/bird strike addon should be developed.

There is a fishing addon but still no birds???

Look off the top of the Cessnas on the little pier.. two sea gulls. Guess where this is?

There were bird addons for FS2020 but I don’t know if they work in FS2024. I certainly would like to see birds as a native part of the sim.

Yes..I use them in 2024. Also some great choices at Simmarket :smiley:

yeah. but they were offered as separate regions which ended up being way too costly if you wanted them all. We need a much simpler, global, very low poly and affordable version, it would be great if it includes a customizable chance of bird strikes.

The Jacksonville addon from dfflyer contains some flying seagulls

Just landed in EGLL. Seen birds on last 100 feet, like a full flock of them. Scared the hell out of me.

SayIntentions injects birds, something they introduced quietly a while back. The SI ATC will warn you about them, as well.

Exactly, I’ve been seeing them with Say Intentions. Very nice.
