When was this added? It’s new and previously was never necessary, so why is it being implemented now?
MSFS is an Xbox title and validates through Xbox. That dialog comes up when you first install MSFS and has been there since the first Alphas.

I haven’t re-installed it. Was playing it last night, double clicked the FS icon on desk top last night and loaded up as normal. Today though, double clicked on the FS icon on desk top, and it’s stuck on this screen.
What’s extra weird is it wasn’t recognizing my password when asked to sign in to MS, which is also weird because I normally don’t have to sign into MS unless I specifically log out(which I didn’t).
I then was forced to reset my password, as it wasn’t recognizing my old one, even though I didn’t change it. Sure enough, when I tried to reset my password, I got a message the “new” password was the same as the old one(but for some reason it wasn’t recognizing the old one).
Now after I reset my MS password, closed out FS as I couldn’t get past the log in screen, I closed it down, and loaded it up, this time after I reset my MS pw. Now it’s still insisting I sign in, yet when I try to click the sign in button, it’s as if the button doesn’t exist. It’s stuck on this screen and I can’t get passed it, and I’ve already changed my MS password.
Zendesk ticket and play the sim sometime tomorrow?
Have you tried doing through the Xbox app? This is required for the MS Store version of MSFS.

Try ALT+ENTER to force a resize of that dialog.

I’m sorry but I’m only here to say for a moment I thought the OPs nick was a horrible tea.
Oh and even if you are using Steam you need to sign into XBox
Ty. This helped. The next screen, it showed I was signed into MS. It asked me if I wanted to use my regular account(that I already was signed into), or an other one. I chose the only one I know.
It then asked me to re-log in my password. I did. Then it brought me back to the same page, asking me what account I want to choose(redundant). I again chose my regular one, but this time it advanced.
The sim is still loading but it’s in the normal loading phase so I will assume my problem is fixed. I do hope it resorts back to how it’s been where once I’m already logged in and then I click FS, it just starts loading without an additional sign in.
