ASOBO B787 engines randomly shutdown midflight

This occurs using the default Asobo B787-10X. Have not isolated it occuring with any certain livery. The title of this post says it all. It seems to be a random event. It has occured during takeoff climb, enroute at altitude, and even, recently on short final. With plenty of fuel and everything configured correctly both engines suddenly shutdown. There appears no way to restart the engines other than to first restart the APU while the aircraft descends. On my last flight, this occurred 7 times culminating in a glide unto the runway at destination. This is not an always event so I am not sure how to intentionally replicate it. On many flights it doesn’t occur at all and then on others it occurs every several minutes. Anyone else experiencing this issue or have any suggestions as to the probable cause? It remember reading another post on a similar issue with this plane a while back, but I was unable to locate it.

Having to use the APU to start the engines is realistic.
Suggest to keep the APU running at all times until this problem is solved.
There are certain malfunctions where you keep the APU running as well.

Hello
I have no problem with 787-X
Last night I left a KLAS-LEMD flight and everything was perfect.
The only thing I can think of is to uninstall it in your profile>>content manager and reinstall it.
I hope this solves the problem.
Happy flights.

I think there is a RW ceiling (25,000 ft?) for use of the APU. But, of course, this is a simulator so we can bend the rules. Unfortunately, I noticed that even if it is running at the time of the failure, it still needs to be restarted again before it can be used to restore power or restart the engines. Do you know of any log file somewhere in MSFS archival complexity that is created during flights? That could shed light on exactly what is happening.

I also have had several long haul flights without incident, but then, out of the blue, I encounter these intermittent engine shutdowns. I don’t know how to pin it down, because it seems to be some random event only occurring with the 787-10X. I am going to try some long haul flights with the Horizon B787-900 which is dependent on the -10X. Hopefully I won’t experience the same issues.

Hi.
I have more or less the same problem but only when I take off my Oculus Rift S or I switch from VR to 2D.

In my case, only the engine 1 turn off and it maintain all time restarting.

I think that the problem may be with an inner assotiation event relatif to turn off LCD panels due to if I take off my VR glasses and I maintain LCD on (covering the infrared sensor) there is not a problem.

I hope I can help you with this information to find where this problem from.

Best regars.

Tried the Horizon B787-900 and had issue 3X, but was fine once I was over the ocean. 2 of the times, the engines and autopilot stayed operational but all the instrument panels went dark. This is different than what I was experiencing with the 10X. I pressed every switch off and on including the EFB and somehow things came back on and remained so the rest of the flight. I normally use the switches on my Alpha yoke, but I got an engine shutdown when I switched on the taxi lights. I also had similar situation when I input data into the EFB. Somehow, something is conflicting, but answer still seems elusive.

The only thing I can think of is you have a controller mapping for condition/mixture. I would frequently have issues with the A310 and others where the engines would randomly shut down during flight. It turned out I had a controller mapping for engine condition tied to an axis and it was randomly setting the engine to cutoff which killed the engines mid flight, likely whenever I nudged the controller. Removing that axis mapping fixed the issue for me.

I didn’t fly the 787 before removing the mapping, so I cannot say if it can occur with the 787 as well, but it might be something to check.

Interesting idea. There are a complexity of issues that can cause glitches. The biggest cause, however, is addons that conflict with Asobo’s latest updates. I had previously downloaded a plethora of liveries for the B787-10 from Flightsim.to. But that was a couple of updates ago. Several of these models had been created 2-3 yrs ago. Many updates since have rendered them problematic. In my case, after removing ALL the liveries, there was no issue with the default 787-10X. So I have been testing one livery at a time and discovering that many of them cause all sorts of different anomalies. So far I have only found the New Zealand ZK-NZF model to work flawlessly. I am hoping to find at least a few more. To test I am loading only one model at a time into my Community folder. It is time consuming since sometimes the problems don’t occur until much later during a long flight.

Same thing happened again today.
When my plane was cruising, all the engines suddenly stopped running, which made me very depressed.
Thank you very much for the information you shared. I will continue to pay attention to the probability of this problem during my flight. If it is still unacceptable, I think I should temporarily switch to another aircraft for flight.
Cheers

Hello
Could it be that you have some assistance activated that creates this conflict?
I’m also thinking about fuel management.
That the automatic transfer to X tank is activated and has a closed intersection and does not reach the engines well.
They are my assumptions.

Hello!
Thanks for your helping, i remember I opened crossfeed, and center tank ran out first, wing tank still have a lot fuel.
My thought is maybe because the livery, will check it.

Since my posting several months ago, I found my problem was not livery dependent. Something with my Honeycomb Alpha switch activation is apparently in conflict with the upgraded B787 causing the engine shutdown to randomly occur during taxi or during flight. It was indeed frustrating. Tried many different solutions. But by avoiding the use of any of the switches on my Alpha Yoke, and instead, using the in-game switches on the overhead panel for lights, battery, avionics, etc. I have eliminated engine shutdowns entirely. I have enjoyed dozens of flights with assorted liveries without issue since then. Similar issues had occurred with my CRJ addons, and avoiding the switches on my yoke fixed those also. Hope that affords you some insight on the problem.
