How do I change VOR CDI needle in Asobo G5 Avionics suit? I have C310 from Milviz which has got an option to use G5 avionics however I noticed that I can’t seem to change the CDI needle (For VOR/ILS/LOC). Similarly I also find the heading bug selector turns heading at a very slow pace. This isn’t helpful especially if there is large change in heading required. How do I make heading bug move faster?
I am not sure the Garmin G5 is developed by Asobo. In which Asobo plane do you see it ?
Hi there - it is the C310 by Milviz or blackbird simulations as it is known today.
There is an option in aircraft settings via built in tablet to use G5 avionics, I am not sure which other airplane uses G5.
Looks like the G5 is used in some of the Reno DLC Texan T6.

On the real G5, you have to press the knob to bring up the menu icons and then select the Course option before adjusting the green CDI needle. By default, just turning the knob without first doing that will only set the heading bug. If you want to use a GPS waypoint of some sort as a virtual VOR, you need to enable OBS mode in the connected GPS navigator before you can select OBS mode from the G5’s menu icons. Then you can set the magenta CDI needle to any course to/from that GPS position.
Yeah I was actually reading the actual G5 manual yesterday to see where I went wrong, Looking back however the G5 has not been modelled accurately to real world counterpart. On HSI in the sim - there is only option to turn heading, not OBS. I understand IRL units do have OBS option which you can select to change CDI.
Thanks, that was report last year and yet this was never looked at or fixed. Oh well! ![]()
