I cannot start the Asobo Xcub from cold and dark although I follow the checklist to the detail. Ctrl-E works. Comparing screenshots before and after Ctrl-E does not show differences that would lead me to the cause of the issue.
Any help here?

Check the fuel valve by your left knee. I think it starts in the Off position by default.

I cannot find a fuel valve. The tank selector is on left tank when I start cold and dark. Ctrl-E also uses the left tank. I tried both. The checklist does not mention a fuel valve.
I use Selector and Valve interchangeably - sorry if it confused. Were you able to start after selecting a tank?
No, it didn’t stsrt.
The same plane in 2024 starts with no problems. But I don’t like it’s flight model.
Thank you for jumping in. Yes, I had it on full rich for starting.
As it works for you I think next step will be to try with an empty Community folder.
I started flying it yesterday and struggled initially to start it.
My problem was resolved by :
- Default fuel supply position is ok, up for right tank
- battery and alternator on
- Mixture and prop lever fully forward (rich for mixture)
- fuel pump on, then move throttle fully forward (to prime the engine) and then back to idle
- Pull mixture lever fully out, lean (fully in, rich, prior to this)
- Turn the ignition key/magnetos with the mouse so it holds on start
- Immediately push the mixture lever in as the prop starts turning
the key line is using the mouse to start
Took me a bit of googling, but this process solved it for me.
ps : the ‘realism mod’ from flightsim.to is well worth having for the x cub, they do 2, one for each tail dragger and tricycle gear ….. assuming your on pc
Thank you, this solved it. As you said, turning the starter with the mouse did it.
My external control is bound to ‘Magneto Start"‘. I found that activating it with the mouse sets InputEvent ‘ELECTRICAL_Starter_1’ from 0 to 1. Using this binding it also works from my external control.

ps : I’m currently flying the Finland Bush Trip in the x cub, but not via the ‘Activities - Bush Trips’ section of the sim. I’m googling the route from others who have flown it. This way I can fly it with a modded x cub, or any aircraft.
