Ok dumb question. I did google searching for an hour and surprisingly can’t find an answer. Which command is a Vnav command for an autopilot so it can be assigned to a joystick. I’ve tried every assignment in longitude and it’s not working.
Sorry about that I use Honeycomb Bravo throttle. But it shouldn’t really matter right? Button is a button and command is a command and it is a stock plane so we are not talking custom lvars. Should be applicable to any joystick unless I am missing something
While I would agree in part to “it should not matter” the honeycomb bravo throttle is not an ordinary “joystick”.
I may be wrong, I’m not an expert but Vnav does not appear to be able to be mapped maybe because Aircraft approved for LNAV/VNAV minimums include the Boeing 737NG, 767, 777, the Airbus A300 and some ATRs.
For the purpose of VNV honeycomb would be considered an ordinary stick because it’s just a button As far as VNV goes quite a few planes including many business jets and glass cockpit enabled GA aircraft have it. It’s not a full blown VNV of an A320 or 737 but it’s a descent VNV. So for example in G1000 you can plug altitudes in your flight plan and then it will calculate TOD for you and you can enable vnav by dialing down the altitude on pfd and enabling vnav 5 min or less before TOD and it will automatically descend you. That VPTH annunciator is what happens when VNV is engaged in and then you have VS chevron that AP follows. Maybe Asobo didn’t implement it on their G1000.
For the moment, the only Garmins that have any VNAV capability is the G3000 -advisory only. (Confirmed many times on the WT Discord Garmin channel). The CJ4’s modded Rockwell-Collins has a custom engine that allows it to perform procedures and legs not available to any other NavUnit. That is coming with G1000 NXi (planned Open Beta early July).
Got it Thanks. Is this going to be working title modded nxi? Or Asobo’s stock improved NXi. I’m all for free mods but at the same time I do want functional ingame stock equipment .
The NXi is Working Title’s project. It’s likely the plan is Asobo will not add further functionality to NavUnits going forward. That’s why WT is aboard as a 1st Tier Partner to do this work.
Thanks. Interesting decision making process on Asobos’ part. Can’t say I am too happy about it but as long as WT is going to share their coding with payware devs I guess it will work for me.
