hi all, I write this post because I would like to understand how to correctly set MSFS after buying a new monitor. let me explain: I have a rtx3060Ti, i7-10700k, 32gb ram and the sim installed in the ssd. in sim update 10 i had a full hd monitor, 60hz, fps stuck at 30 inside the sim, and everything was fine. smooth anywhere in the world, including JFK, Heathrow, Charles De Gaulle etc, with traffic set to off and using fsltl only with static, just parked aircraft with no movement. Before sim update 11 came out, I switched monitors and switched to a 2k, 165hz freesync. I don’t change any sim settings (lod 100, objects 100) and settings between high and ultra, but taking me to one of those three airports listed above, where I test to see if everything is fluid, no longer the fluidity of my old monitor with su10 ) Su11’s fault? fault of the monitor? I do not know. i tried to change monitor refresh rate from 165hz to 60hz from nvidia panel and set the rate to 50% to have 30fps, but if i turn the camera, every full cycle has one shot (less than a second). I tried dx12 but nothing changes, I tried all the various combinations of nvidia panel but nothing, in su10 the default nvidia panel and it worked wonders. I have game mode and hags disabled, I’ve tried disabling hyperthreading but nothing changes, I’ve tried setting fs priority to high but nothing changes, I’ve tried 100% monitor frequency and 33% fps limiting to have 33fps fixed and constant (but with microstutter every complete cycle of the camera inside the cockpit or when I move the view to the cockpit on the taxi) I don’t know what to do anymore, in the 10th I had a crazy fluidity, now I can’t have it anymore, plus I noticed that while I’m in the ascent phase, the fps drops if I put the external camera. i tried reinstalling the game but nothing all the same, tried emptying community but nothing, anyone have any solution please? I would like to enjoy the sim!
Are you using a DisplayPort cable or HDMI, and have you enabled AMD Freesync on your monitor via the on-screen display menu? G-Sync works over Displayport only.
Also might be worth checking that you’ve enabled G-Sync through the Nvidia control panel as well.
I would reset your monitor back to 165hz and reset the defaults in the Nvidia control panel. Turn OFF Freesync, Gsync, and Vsync if you have any of those enabled (in the Monitor settings, in the Nvidia Control Panel, and in the Game settings). Turn Nvidia Reflex to ON. Set your resolution to 2k, select High End-PC in the Game settings, but turn OFF Texture SuperSampling and set Texture Resolution to Medium. You will need to restart the sim. This should be close to the best performance from your card. You can upload a screenshot with devmode and the FPS counter showing.
when I get home I’ll try and send you a screen, also with msi afterbuner where I have the frame time graph etc. The fps are very good! it’s the microstutters that spoil the experience
Remember that any FPS overlay like MSI Afterburner will add latency. The frames created by the game are handed over to the MSI Afterburner before they get released to the screen. Try with and without MSI enabled.
i use display port and my monitor is freesync. I thought it was gsync because the setting is present in the nvidia panel, but if I activate it I have sudden changes in brightness and on the site it doesn’t say that gsync is compatible
I’ve already tried with the msfs counter without msi and it’s the same. why in the su10 it was fine and now not? are you saying because I switched to 2k or for problems on 11?
Vsync sin off?
I am suspecting the monitor at this point. I had a 165 hz monitor for only 3 days before I gave it away to my son. ![]()
Yes, all vysnc, freesync and any other type of sync OFF. We want to see the card and the monitor working without any frame buffering.
Can a better monitor ruin the experience? the other was 15 years old full hd 60hz. I have now msi g27cq4
Perfect, reset nvidia panel, i disable freesync by setup monitor, off sim and nvidia reflex on or ultra?
If you still have it, perhaps swap it back in as the only monitor connected.
There is an Nvidia Reflex setting in the Game settings when you enable DX12. You should have DX12 on as well. The Nvidia Reflex setting in the Game has ON and Boost. Boost just overrides the Power Management setting and sets it to Prefer Max Performance. You can try both.
So, dx12+ all vsync off + nvidia reflex ( on or ultra )
If you are using Nvidia Reflex in the NCP, set it to Ultra. You need to restart the sim whenever you change a setting in the NCP. Do you have the option for DLSS with DLAA? That would be the best looking settings but the most stressful. DLSS with Quality should be very good on your system as well.
I have the default nvidia panel. i’m italian and i’m translating, so you’re telling me to put dx12, all vsync off, and set nvidia reflex from sim or nvidia panel? then dlss quality blurs the screens inside the cockpit
Choose Nvidia Reflex = On + Boost in the Game settings. This setting is not available with DX11.
Choose Nvidia Reflex = Ultra in the Nvidia Control Panel only if the setting is not available in the Game settings.
DLSS and DLAA should be the sharpest for your system.
in my settings nvidia reflex low latency is also available when i use dx11, can you tell me that with dx11 it has no effect?
The Nvidia Control Panel setting works with DX11 and DX12.
The Game Setting works with DX12.
