AT-802 Fire Boss has no VSI

I just did my first flight in the AT-802 Fire Boss and it does not have a vertical speed indicator. I mean I get the purpose build, industrial, no frills cockpit, but looking in real life AT-802 cockpits, and all of them have a VSI. Why not in MSFS 24?

I noticed and i cant understand why since vertical speed is CRITICAL when waterlanding

A vertical speed indicator isn’t a required instrument when flying under VFR. Under IFR it depends on what FAR you’re flying under. I think it’s also required if you fly under VFR at night when flying under some FAR part numbers. Also a vertical speed can lag unless it’s one that is instantaneous. Even then I think it still may still lag a bit.

You are missing the point..

A VSI is practically mandatory for sucesful water landings in simulators .. you need to touch down really really smooth at a low vertical speed of less than 150fps or you will bounce.. In real life bouncing is bad but in MSFS2020 and its wonky physics it means bouncing 20 times.

In real life you might get away because you are feeling the rate of descend with your body (or butt seat as pilots put) but in a simulation you rely on what you see on screen ..no feelings whatsoever.. thats why refueling a plane or keeping formation is somehow harder in sims that in real life as you dont feel anything.. in real life you would feel the change of speed or movement almost before it happens like in a car practically we all can maintain speed with a truck or another car easily

and thats why we need a VSI in any water landing craft.. the thing is i can get one going to third person view wich has full instrumentation including a VSI number.. but its annoying and inmersion breaking having to get out of cockpit camera to check anything

It isn’t. I never look at it myself. My eyes are outside the cockpit. Also just an FYI there are AT-802s out there without a VSI.

yeah and thats why EVERY SINGLE AT-802F i can find photos of the cockpit has a VSI

Even in the simulator they have it

the thread is about asking for a VSI in the AT802 as its very much needed.. if you dont want it why you come here just to say “its not needed because VFR” ? you can put tape over it as far as im concerned
