As a solution to this issue I would suggest that the Sim scans for updates, as at present, but when an update is found two options are offered:

  1. Continue to update the Sim immediately.
  2. Update the Sim when it is next started.

Option 2 would allow users to complete a flight if required before updating, or to immediately close the Sim and remove any community content before restarting and updating.
