Wait a few weeks, till he switches to the FENIX, then you can see the differences. 
FBW is really cool for free, but it not even close to „studylevel“. Too many thing not working, yet. LNAV, multiple legtypes, VNAV, Holdings, Performance, CI, FLEX Takeoff, etc, etc… ever tried an RNAV approach? Or ever flown to LSZH? It will just cancel everything like nope, cant do that.
As long as everything goes basic and standard, it will kind of work, but if you fly more complex approaches and stuff, you will hit the limits. But one can ignore it and workaround all this.
