Hi there, I just had a flight that the ATC and the ATIS were going at the same time. Has anyone experience that problem?
While it could be an actual issue / bug, any time I’ve encountered this is because I’ve inadvertenly had both radios active in the cockpit at once due to an errant cockpit click that enabled monitoring on the second radio.
You can have 1 radio set for transmit / receive and the second to receive only to monitor another channel like ATIS or a UNICOM frequency. This is a pretty common thing.
How to shut it down depends on which plane you’re flying. GA and airliners will have very different radio stacks.
I’ve had it happen to me on occasion. I figured I must’ve either hit an additional # key on my keyboard or inadvertently hit both # 1’s and 2 at the same time when responding. I usually use the keyboard #1 as that is usually the correct response to any (most) calls from ATC. I don’t usually have the ATC dialogue window open unless I know there will be additional instructions coming down such as on an approach or after touchdown.
I was flying the CAP10, I believe that’s the one I flown
Wait, you can use the numbers to respond to ATC without having the window open?
My entire flight sim career has been a lie.

I’m not really all that familiar with that plane, but there should be an audio panel somewhere that lets you select COM1 / COM2 for transmit & recieve. You can only transmit on 1 channel at a time, but can receive from both. You need to find the button to shut up the second radio when this happens.
And again, depending on your plane, that will be different. The G1000 planes are on the strip between the PFD and MFD (top 4 buttons). On the steam guage C172, it’s the unit at the very top of the radio stack. On the G3000, it’s in the comms menu from the touch screen. On airliners, I don’t know. I don’t fly those.
Yes. It is a phenomena that is really bad in certain sections of the U.S. I use a key bind to lower the volume on COM 2 radio. I still see the text, but no sound.
Weird, it was reported as fixed in the last sim update patch notes
Experience with previous patches would show that just because they “fixed” it and marked it as such in patch notes doesn’t mean their fix actually worked, which they’d know if they tested it sufficiently.
The few times it has happened to me I simply hit the #1 key and it immediately removes the text and silences ATIS.
