This is happening on Xbox for me as well, and if i turn off ATC assistance, ATC will to hand me over to another frequency, but the comms window wont have any options to tune the requested frequency.
The ATC issues are the biggest thing ruining the new simulator for me.

• Communication options disappear somewhere along the flight plan path and the only remaining option is to ask the controller to repeat instructions.
As you approach the arrival / approach path the copilot (I delegated ATC communications to the copilot) will contact approach and ask for a destination change to the planned destination airport. Then the whole cycle starts over again.

• As described - as the OP describes as you approach the destination in an IFR flight the copilot repeatedly requests a new destination. This creates the odd situation during descents where the ATC requests you to return to the cruise altitude then continue with the descent. It makes continuing the flight impossible.

• When in flight using the AI copilot, it can get stuck in an infinate loop of filing a new IFR flight plan, the SIM doesn’t recognise that one has already been filed. The AI shouldn’t be able to request this, it should only be able to respond to ATC requests. A number of times I have gone AFK on a long flight at cruise, only to come back to find ATC shouting at me to expedite my decent to like 4,000FT from like FL360 because the AI has tried to file a new IFR plan. Unless changes have been made to the filed plan or IFR has been cancelled, I don’t understand why that option is there for an already filed plan.

Regarding the bug, it seems to happen after requesting an altitude change for me. Beforehand, the “Request IFR Clearance for flight plan” option doesn’t show, so the AI can’t press it. If you change something though, that option starts showing and the AI starts infinitely requesting it. From my perspective the AI should treat that option as a manual-only option.
Is there a fix for this ATC loop yet?
As of today April 29th 2025? I have the same loop over and over again flying Inibuilds a320 v2.
My fix has been to stick with 2020.
I haven’t touched 2024 since it released and my refund was denied.
Don’t have any plans to ever use it at this stage.
Asobo/MICROSOFT ATC in 2024 is just one big mess.
Not only is the IFR/VFR loop irritating, also the clearance broken. VFR gets IFR and the other way around… all at random btw.
Also, even if you load it, they can completely change your routing/arrivals etc.
Instead of climbing to some altitude or feet, they say climb or descend to some FL…FL??? Litteraly the 2 letters.
There is no action, reaction… when they give you some order there is always another plane in between before you can reply back to the controller…
auto reply by the co-pilot also sometimes just stops working and then you have to tune all yourself
When i am not on vatsim i most of the time play the sim without atc, or after takeoff i just put it off and only put it on at arrival
This was happening to me (SU2 / A320Nv2 / XBOX X / IniBuilds). However, I stopped specifying destination airport on the free flight loading screen the issue never happened again.
When creating the flight, just choose the departure location (e.g. gate where your flight starts) and go flying. When inside the aircraft, load EFB, create the flight plan and send the flight plan to ATC. Then program FMC, configure the aircraft and when ready request ATC IFR clearance. From this point on ATC follows its normal course.

• Problem also happens with VFR flightplans (even though it is a VFR flightplan, AI Copilot keeps requesting IFR. Also possibly related is I’ve heard the AI Copilot repeatedly ask to “change the destination” to my original (and only) destination airport.

this one of the most annoying bugs I’ve had to deal with so far
