ATC IFR Direct to

My workaround is that when I make an IFR flight plan I simply delete the waypoints I don’t want.

A second workaround is to plan direct (GPS/VFR) then request IFR clearance once you are in the air.

The last workaround is to cancel IFR, go direct, then pick up IFR at a later point in the flight (obvioulsy weather and altitude permitting).
