ATC instructs TBM930 to climb above aircraft's max ceiling

Yes

Brief description of the issue:

During some IFR flights from Bristol to anywhere in southern Europe, which requires flying over France, I am instructed by French ATC to climb and maintain FL350. But the max ceiling on a TBM930 is FL310.

Also, when setting up an IFR flight, the Navlog will often set the cruise altitude to FL320. Is this a parameter I can edit in a cfg file somewhere? I’m reporting this in the same thread in case the two are related.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Set up an IFR flight from EGGD Bristol to e.g. LGAV Athens. Set up Direct departure, Select ILS approach (Approach and Arrival choices don’t seem to matter or cause these bugs AFAIK).

For cruise altitude issue, just set up the flight-plan as above and after selecting IFR, go into the Navlog window. This problem is also intermittent.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

Intel Core i9-7960X CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
32GB Quad cannel RAM.
Geforce RTX-3090
CH Yoke and Rudder Pedals.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

I think these bugs have been around since SU12.

A desired altitude must be selected in the Nav Log box of the World Map Planner.

Also, you can accept it and then ask for a lower FL.

ATC has never worked well… ever.
In particular regarding assigned altitudes. It asks you to do things which you are unable, or things that make no sense. You request a flight level DECREASE, it approves as requested, but first it makes you climb to FL41 and then brings you down.
It never shuts up when it wants you to expedite even though you are climbing at max performance. It flies you into mountains. Tells you to contact one center, then contact back to the first center, then contact the next center back and forth.

Its a real shame because i like to do long haul airline flights, so this is big bummer for me and for others.

There is a 3d party addon coming, BeyondATC, it uses ai generated dialogues, and it looks absolutely incredible, at least in the trailers. But it has been “coming” for some time now… so i dunno

Not for those who know how to use it. I fly IFR with ATC all the time and they never ask me to climb above the level specified in the flight plan. It always clears me to requested altitude, unless there is an altitude restriction like in STAR route. If I am cruising at FL150 and request descend to 5000ft but there is a waypoint in front of me with 9000ft or above restriction ATC will say “descend to 9000 and expect 5000”. Once I reach that waypoint, they clear me to 5000.

People don’t plan their flights properly and blame ATC for giving them stupid requests. It’s just a program, not human being. A very limited and simplified program but still usable.

Thank you all for the replies and info, very much appreciated.

Im not syaing ts not usable. Im saying it doesnt work well. I’ll put it another way. I had none of these problems when playing FSX. So we know that making it work well is perfectly possible… This one is very buggy. But that of course is just imo.
