ATC often calls other aircraft Giant

As I’ve been flying around the US, the ATC often calls other aircraft “Giant”. Maybe I’m mis-hearing it. At first I though it was being used in the place of “heavy” but it is used in place of the airline name. I thought I may have missed a new airline name but a Duck Duck search doesn’t come up with an airline of that name.

“Giant” is the callsign of Atlas Air, a cargo company.

Thanks. I see Atlas fly over my house on the way to Anchorage occasionally. Now I see it’s has a GT prefix on flight numbers.

Hello @WideTracking ,

We ask that people not use General Discussion for help, advice, or troubleshooting. I have moved your post to Aviate, Navigate, Communicate because this is about ATC (“Communicate”).

For future reference, here are what some of these categories mean:

  • Aircraft
is where you discuss current or future planes coming to MSFS.
  • World
is where you discuss scenery, airports, and weather.
  • Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
is where you ask for help with flying.
  • Tech Talk
is where you discuss graphics, drivers, performance, CTDs, and hardware.
  • Menus & Activities
is where you discuss activities (landing challenges, bush trips, etc), plus anything accessed by the menus including the Marketplace, settings, logbook, cameras, etc.
