I fly a fair bit in California, and any time I’m in the vicinity of the Bay Area (and by vicinity I’m talking within a couple of hundred miles), I get the Salinas ATIS continually looping. It’s horrible and very irritating.
As per the title, I’m not tuned to Salinas ATIS, or in fact anything (I rarely use ATC), but nothing I do seems to get rid of it. If I tune specifically to another airport I end up with both!
Is this a known bug, does anyone else experience it, and does anybody know if there’s a way to simply turn off all ATC - I have looked, but couldn’t see anything.
Oh, and I’ve had the Salinas ATIS looping since I started playing the game and have done a couple of complete re-installs, so I don’t think it’s specific to my install.
I’m pretty sure that by random chance the default comm 2 frequency setting is the same as the Salinas Airport ATIS. Try tuning the comm 2 radio to a different frequency or turn off the monitoring of the comm 2 radio and you shouldn’t have this problem any more.
not sure. I’ve had this around the Bahamas I think. The ATIS frequency was overlapping with an ATC frequency, making the ATIS loop continuously.
Was rather annoying.
I had it happen during an approach and was unable to confirm any request from ATC, while the AI traffic had no problem talking. The responses were constantly greyed out. Annoying! But the ATC in the sim is rudimentary at best, so…
There is a way to turn off the ATC voices in the settings. I’m not at my computer, but I think it’s under the accessibility settings section. That should keep the ATIS from being heard no matter what the frequency is tuned to.
