ATR 42/72 Battery Switch Misaligned Animation

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
On the ATR 42/72 in MSFS 2024, the battery switch is incorrectly positioned. When moved to the ON position, the switch animation places it over the guard that prevents access to the Overdrive position. This indicates that the switch positions are misaligned or incorrectly animated.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you?
Every time the battery switch is used.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Load the ATR 42/72 in MSFS 2024.

  2. Locate the battery switch on the overhead panel.

  3. Move the switch to the ON position.

  4. Observe that the switch overlaps the guard and does not align correctly with the intended position.

YOUR SETTINGS

  • Peripherals used: Standard keyboard and mouse Xbox Controler.

  • Developer Mode: Not active.

  • DX11/DX12: DX12.

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060.

  • Other relevant PC specs: AMD Ryzen 5700X, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10.

MEDIA

On the real ATR, you do NOT need to lift the guard to select batteries from OFF to ON. Only for OVRD (override) you need to lift the guard. So the function is correct. Are you sure it overlaps with the guard? There should be a small slot allowing batteries in ON position without lifting the guard. Not the clearest example maybe:

And you’re right, my friend. The only thing I’m pointing out is that the animation is poorly positioned.

In the MSFS 2024 version, the OFF position is almost the ON position. When you switch it ON, the switch overlaps the guard and looks bad. And if you want to engage overdrive, you have to raise the guard to do so. What you’re saying is correct, except that in the simulator the movement overlaps the pieces and looks bad.

If you have the opportunity, compare it with the MSFS 2020 version.

In the 2020 version you could put the switch into OVRD without lifting the guard.

Is that still the case with the 2024 version?

EDIT:

I just checked, the guard actually works in 2024.

I don’t know if I can’t explain it to myself. English is not my first language. The operation is correct, it works as it should, what is wrong is the switch animation. visually it overlaps. and it shouldn’t.

in the OFF position it should be further down, when it is ON it should be in the middle

It’s just the visual position that’s wrong. not its operation

Yes, you need to look closely, but I’m pretty sure when you flick the switch from off to on it’s moving into the space occupied by the guard. Impossible in real life but they just draw on top of one another in the sim.

You are correct in your assessment.

If this were a real switch, you wouldn’t be able to lift the guard with the switch in the ON position, due to it fouling the guard. When ON, it is meant to align with the guard in such a way to allow the guard to be lifted.

exactly. Come on, we’re talking about polygons, it’s just the animation that’s poorly positioned. does not affect operation

Comparison of MSFS 2020 (which seems to me to be well animated)

with MSFS 2024 it seems to me to have a problem with the animation

Guys, it’s not a function complaint, it’s just the shape, it just looks bad visually.

Yeah that isn’t modelled correctly…
