ATR 72 - Will the Expert Series ATR be available as a standalone purchase for MSFS 2024 Standard users?

Hi everyone!

With AAU4 fresh on the scene and the SU5 stable release just around the corner, I’m getting really excited about the fleet possibilities in MSFS 2024. I have my heart set on the Asobo/Microsoft ATR 72, but as a Standard Edition user, I’m wondering if it will be available as a standalone addon in the Marketplace?

I’ve already invested quite heavily in 3rd-party sceneries and aircraft, so I don’t see much personal benefit in upgrading my entire sim edition just for one plane. Does anyone know if Microsoft plans to offer the “Expert Series” as individual purchases for those of us on the Standard license?

Would love to get this bird into my hangar! Thanks in advance for the help.

Warm regards, Claas

Microsoft doesn’t tend to announce first-party Marketplace releases in advance (see the announcement for virtually every Famous Flyer and Local Legend previously) so I don’t think you’re going to get a 100% verified answer here, but I am nearly positive that yes, they will offer any first-party 2024-native (and in good standing) product for individual purchase on the 2024 Marketplace.

Sounds great - but I suppose this can be at any point in the future? so maybe in 4 weeks maybe in 1 year? thank you

Yes, though personally I think these will release on the Marketplace as soon as they’re available as free upgrades for owners of the 2020 aircraft. I’ve got no insider information to back that up, just feeling though.

Oh, I see — that’s pretty interesting. When would that happen? Haha, sorry for all the questions!

The 2024 native ATR is planned to release with Aircraft and Avionics Update 4 (AAU4) which itself is planned to release with Sim Update 5 (SU5) - and that is planned to release sometime later this month. Of course, those are tentative plans and could change. SU5 could release in April without AAU4 attached, or they could release AAU4 in April and delay SU5, or they could both release or both be delayed.

But hopefully they stay on target and can deliver both updates in a good state this month.

aaaah yes true. somehow I was mildly bamboozled and confused SU5 beta with the drop of AAU4. so yeah - they c o u l d arrive at the same time. thanks. looking forward

They’re definitely supposed to, according to Jorg - but plans change all the time.
