ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Many things incorrect here, let’s dissect this screenshot:
- First of all, the aircraft started acceleration from V2 + 5 kts to white bug by itself (PWR MGT was still in TO), this is incorrect behavior. Auto speed should remain V2 + 5 until PWR MGT selector is moved to CLB position.
- Upon selecting PWR MGT to CLB, the magenta speed should go directly to 170 kts (ATR 72), NOT to the white bug first, then 170 kts at flap retraction. That is not correct.
- The aircraft should NOT descent during the acceleration segment, in this case “DON’T SINK” TAWS alert triggered as the aircraft started to descent.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
Always.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Take-off, when airborne select autopilot ON
- When doing nothing (PWR MGT TO), observe magenta speed increasing above 1000 ft
- Observe speed increasing to white bug, then 170 kts at flap retraction
- Observe aircraft descending during acceleration segment
YOUR SETTINGS

MEDIA
PWR MGT set to TO = target speed V2 + 5 kts:
Upon selecting PWR MGT to climb, target speed 170 kts:
Lowest vertical rate observed (during flap retraction) of 400 ft/min:
Note: the above example is with autopilot off, but as can be seen, the flight director is followed.
