ATR reverse: loss of ACW, low torque

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  • Upon selecting reverse thrust, Np drops to 60% causing ACW generators to drop offline with subsequent loss of ACW. The real aircraft does not let Np drop to the point where ACW generators drop offline.
  • The torque is very low (4%), on the real aircraft, torque is around 40% at full reverse.
  • It seems impossible to powerback the ATR sometimes at full reverse.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Both engines running and propellers unfeathered, select full reverse. Observe Np dropping below 66%, ACW generators lost.
  2. Check the torque indication, should be 40%, instead shows around 4%.
  3. Release brakes and try to powerback.

I’m having the same exact problem. It loses power every single time i’m in reverse. I have tried throttle calibration many times, I have factory reset my throttles, its the same issue.

Okay, think after playing around I can get it to work some of the time.

Few things to check. Is gust lock disengaged?

Sound I could do it on some airports and not others, so maybe check if you need anti-icing?

Also sometimes it helps to give it a little throttle whilst holding the brake, then put it into reverse to get it a bit of momentum, it’s kinda tricky it does move most of the time now. You might still get the electrical issue but it’ll reverse taxi back enough and then when you toggle off reversers and the electrical warnings will go away.

Gust lock should be ON for ground operations, but either way, full reverse should be available nomatter if gust lock is on or off. Neither should it be necessary to move forward before powerbacking.
