Not sure if it’s a coincidence: I had my CPU undervolted, last week i removed the undervolt and so far i’ve made 3 flights without the audio stutters. But games performance is still not very good, but at least it’s playable without headache inducing audio popping and stutters.
Changed back from Win11 24h2 to Win11 23h2, 3 Month ago and never had this problem again since.
I was having major problems with audio stutters in 2024. I updated my graphics drivers today (nvidia 576.02 just released!). The issue seems to be fixed! I have flown two flights above some dense areas and i did not get any sound stutters anymore. I am hoping someone can confirm this.
I have had mixed results in later SU2 beta versions; the audio stutters seem to disappear at times or occur less frequent; during sim stutters usually, it seems due to low performance at times but, as I said before; even if my FPS dips and my CPU spikes, I didn’t have this problem in MSFS2020, like how it behaves now. The latest Nvidia driver does not resolve this completely.
Update: It was just a coincidence. I tried again today and had audio stutters and popping again.
I also have this audio stuttering. Good thing i’m not alone. It’s a crackling and popping sound. Very annoying. I’m not on SU2 beta.
I think I can safely say, I have had it in every build release of MSFS24; since the very beginning and it seems to be related to the performance of the sim; so if the sim performs better, I have less audio cut-outs - relating the CPU use.
I am wondering if a dedicated soundcard would help.
Intel CPU here. ![]()
Just a quick question: Do you all have AMD CPUs?
I had this problem with the 7950X3D. After I switched to the 285K, it was gone. But now with the 9950X3D, it’s back again.
I have a 7600X paired with a 5080. It was a mess. But today I got rid of the issue by updating my nvidia drivers to 576.02
I have an Intel CPU and get the sound stuttering too.
I did a BIOS update yesterday from 5021 to 5031 (Asus Strix x570 F-Gaming) Error still occurs I also deleted the Nvidia audio drivers. I am running the latest Su2 beta update
Last flight I did LFPG-EHAM, the stutters were crazy.. But then again LHBP-EPWA was kinda ok.
BUT when Im doing circuits seems they are almost gone. In the past there were present while doing circuits.
Anyway, how did I manage to make it lesser.. not saying you should do the same, this is what “worked” for me as a workaround until Asobo fix this. I did some Bios changes (overcloking/undervolting) in the AiTweaker, also some changes in the advanced section of the BiOS that reported improved latency.
Then, I think one nex is the biggest thing that helped; I set my monitor at 100mhz (from 160, I don’t get 120 option over DP). Then I turned on VSync (in-game), Turned off FG, set the refresh rate to 50% of monitors refresh rate, and capped the FPS to 50fps. Results: consistent 50fps in flight, and around 42ish (depend on the airport, fluctuates 42-46) while at gate or taxing. No major audio stutters and the FPS displays is alwasy on the green side.
I followed this guide for the BiOS stuff:
Now be advised, not all settings mentioned here may apply to you, or even work.
Asobo, please please please please please please please fix this or at least deep dive into this bug. It is so ■■■■ annoying.
There must be a solution. This fckt me up.
this issue was first reported almost half a year ago and no real Asobo response is frustrating. This really ruins the sim on my end.
Reporting back after a couple more weeks of trying to resolve this.
I have found some success with no audio stutter issues over the last couple weeks of flight and only deleting my rolling cache once, after install of the latest Nvidia drivers released this past week.
I was holding off to report as I wanted to test over several hours of flight, in multiple areas, across several continents, on VATSIM, and in various weather conditions (heavy weather seems to further exacerbate this problem).
One thing I have found is that instead of uninstalling the Nvidia HD Audio driver, I have left the latest version installed and disabled it within Windows Device Manager.
Why did I do this? I have an LG 4K OLED with built in speakers and even if I uninstall the Nvidia HD Audio driver, Windows somehow keeps reinstalling it to run the monitor speakers. This now no longer happens and I can ensure this device is disabled.
This may have something to do with throughput bandwidth of your Display Port connection running a high refresh rate, Nvidia frame gen, and passing through the Nvidia HD Audio. I am no tech guru but just wanted to report my findings as I’ve had 0 audio stutter issues since I’ve done this.
I am fully aware this may be an Asobo MSFS issue, an Nvidia issue, a Windows issue or any combination of all of the above. Further testing needs to be done by Asobo on different system configurations, monitors, DP/HDMI connection, etc. as so many here are experiencing this.
I am using the latest SU2 beta and the latest Nvidia 576.02 drivers, and fully updated W11 24H2.
9800X3D // RTX 4090 // 64GB 6000 DDR5
4K Ultra Preset // Nvidia Frame Gen // TAA // Latest DLSS4 DLLs installed and overrides enabled via Nvidia Profile Inspector
I didn’t experience any audio stuttering.
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- MSI X870E Carbon WIFI // virtualization disabled
- DDR5 64GB CL26
- RTX 4090
- Windows 11 23H2
Some examples during flight - my FPS were stable, not too low but still the audio issue are there; in form of audio cut-outs and/or crackling. The resolution of the videos is heavily reduced, to save file space. Please ignore the big lag at the beginning, when the video starts recording, this is due to the recording starting, the sim was fluid.
I have this issue as well, although it varies tremendously between flights. I am under the impression that it gets worse on busier days, such as weekends. But I might be imagining that…
I experienced crackling/stuttering sound last night during a brief flight around KLAX. I did not experience it during other flights around other airports. Overall they seem to be happening much less with the latest builds for me.
