Audio Stutters In Menu / Globe And On Ground / During Flight

Will try this and report back - it’s hard to hold out any hope though

50 hours of flying without audio stutters — but even if they come back (you know how extremely cautious I am about this), this setup has made my flying enjoyable again:

I cannot explain it but this actually works. Before I tried this BATC traffic and GSX would absolutely and brutally murder my main thread. After disabling G-Sync and enabling 3x Frame gen there is no noticeable drop in FPS from both of those any more. I can board and have live traffic with 165 FPS (monitors native refresh rate)

Vram usage has dropped 2GB as well. I do only use medium texture settings though since I do not really see a drop in visual fidelity from that. Thank you!

Also, I can finally have a TLOD higher than 40 on the ground without getting stutters.

I finally found a working fix, I went back to X Plane, 100% stutters free experience.

I decided to give 2024 a go for the first time in a while, since this audio (and game) stuttering issue just ruins the experience for me. Sadly it’s still there for me.

I have a low latency to the nearest Azure datacentre and have a 1 Gbps connection paired with an AMD 7800X3D, 64 GB of DDR5 memory and an Nvidia RTX 4090. Zero audio issues in 2020.

My monitor is FreeSync (G-Sync enabled in Nvidia app). I’ve tried turning off and on G-Sync and it really doesn’t seem to make any difference worth talking about. Plus turning off G-Sync removes all the benefits of, well, G-Sync.

I just tried the recommendation on this video. I limited my FPS to 75 with Rivatuna Statistics Server, as it’s what my simulator showed me I could reach comfortably. What a difference it made! A great find and a solution to my audio stutters

Initially the advice was to limit your FPS to around what your refresh rate was. That’s not possible for me as my native refresh rate with the Odyssey Ark is 165Hz, and you can’t lower it without disabling game mode. I am going to try to limit them with the FPS limiter on the useropt.cfg and keep the Rivatuner as well. I think with that, I will get the frames to be solid and reduce the latency that was causing the audio stutters.

MSFS 2024 - HOW TO GET SMOOTH STUTTER FREE FLIGHT SIM [ALL PC SPECS]

Seems very similar to my concept of G-Sync OFF + Frame Generation + V-Sync ON for NVIDIA users. But besides using different technology (AMD), there is also a major conceptual difference. And the results are different too.

Here is what I consider optimal:

  • (A – crucial) The frame pacing bar must be completely flat. Once you see spikes or irregularities in this bar, you’re not there yet! And if a proposal or video shows a bar that isn’t this flat, it’s not the same solution I’m proposing here.
  • (B minus C – your airbag) The difference between B (e.g., 25.02 ms in my case) and C (14.5 ms) should be as large as possible — this is your airbag. If C is too close to B, stutters are inevitable under load.

And here is his result as captured from the video:

Frame pacing bar is not flat, and this feels different in terms of smoothness. But even more important — and this is a conceptual difference — his margin between B and C is too small, which means no “airbag.” With G-Sync OFF, one must be absolutely sure to stay inside the “budget” (B) — the time available for the sim engine to prepare one frame. Tightening the budget, as he proposes, will cause stuttering in demanding situations, and disabled G-Sync will make it severe!

Did someone with the problems tested it with a 25H2 Beta / Canary Version?

I personally did turn off G-Sync and turned on V-Sync, my bar is flat at 75 FPS. Just that the dev mode bar is red. It cured the stutters and audio popping. Do you recommend I do anything additional or different? It seems to me my latency increases when I have FPS unlocked and the aim tries to constantly go past the 90 FPS I get on average with Fram Generation and unlocked frames.

Hi, could you please share your CPU, GPU, and a screenshot of the dev FPS overlay in a demanding scenario?

Hi again.
I have a RTX 4080, and a 7900X3D. Thanks

Looks good to me — the color shouldn’t matter, as I think it’s bugged. More info here: Smooth Performance Concept for High-End Hardware: Fixed FPS with DLSS Frame Generation - #77 by SBSx9

I have one wild card tip for you — I would also try a 30 FPS limit :slightly_smiling_face: This will increase your ‘budget’ to 33.3 ms, making it almost bulletproof. We can think whatever we like about it, but it seems the sim is actually optimized for 30 FPS, which has its origins on Xbox. The devs even mentioned this once. This might also explain sound stutters — strong hardware pushes the sim out of its ‘comfortable zone’ (to high raw FPS). Just a theory — but I’m currently testing 30 FPS base with 4x FG, and it works wonderfully. Of course, you should try it yourself to see if you notice any side effects in motion or FG quality when comparing 60 vs 78 FPS output.

I’ll give it a try today. Thanks for the feedback! I think everyone should do this.

Still no news about this?

Unfortunately, it’s still an issue in the beta, so may not be fixed until SU4.

Thx.

Dude, with this game stutting mess and landing lag it’s just unplayable right now.
Going back to xplane.

I fınally found a solution, switched back to windows 10 fixed my sound stutters, I tried every way that exist and lastly this thing is fixed my problem, my rigs are r7 5700x3d, rtx 4070super and 64gb ddr4 ram

Flight Sim 24 should be called more like Taxi Sim 24. The sim runs nice and smooth on the ground but once you start getting any altitude it’s a stutterfest.

Still having that audio popping and sutter issue with 2024. Nothing I do seems to resolve the issue. Now I’m curious to know how many are having this issue compared to those that don’t have this issue. I’ve watched so many streamers and all I’ve seen never have this issue. Very frustrating cause I want to let 2020 slow go but I have keep going back to it for my flight sim addiction.

I wasn’t getting it at all when I was on Win 11 23H2. I had my registry edited to stop 24H2 installing, but somehow just over a week ago it ended up installing anyway through Windows update.
Since them I’m getting this exact audio popping, CPU spikes and stutters randomly.
Since the cursed 24H2 installed itself I’ve also started getting ntdll crashes with my RAM EXPO profile enabled. No issues with it previously in 23H2.
Only thing that has changed on my system has been 24H2.

To say I loathe and despise Win 11 24H2 would be a gross understatement and I’m incredibly p*ssed that it managed to install despite all my efforts to keep it off my PC.
