[August 24, 2023] Expert Series I: ATR 42-600 / 72-600 Update 1.0.31

not only from runway - I started on the ramp and headed off backwards until hitting brakes (which then crunched the tail) and it took a while to figure out what was happening and change it. real PITA…

I also had the EFB lock up after trying to swap flight plan from FMC2 (where it loaded from simbrief to FMC1…

Also had weirdness on the updated Fenix after latest patches - thank the lawd for the JF F28 which is a complete delight.

Bring back the reflections of the cockpit displays!

Since days I try to update the ATR, but it is impossible. DL Speed is only < 2 mbit/s at any time of the day. General internet speed is ~ 55 mbit/s continuously. Never experienced that before with other updates.

EDIT: After deleting the ATR completely, the re-installation went as quick as used. No idea what was the bottleneck with the update.

I am not a rw ATR pilot so I cant compare how realistic is the implementation.
Personally I don’t find it distracting.
According to the FCOM it can be switched off by setting the nav lights to off, but this does not work in the sim, the light is permanently on.

I’ve just uploaded a new version of the checklist at Flightsim.to
If anyone may be interested:

Question:
Anybody know how to scroll the parkings on the MFD map screen?
A manual for the ATR is absolutely necessary.

Since the latest update my Fuel on board and Gross weight does not drop on the display, it just remains the same throughout the whole flight, but on the weight and balance it goes down and they do not match each other. Is anyone else having this problem.

Yes, I noted that as well and forgot to write it up as a bug.

The flood lights need a lot of improving. The flight deck lighting is not an accurate representation of the real ATR’s flight deck lighting. Someone mentioned the wing vortex generators that’s missing from the model, I would also like to see that added, as well. Hope the developers are seeing and taking notes.

Also I noted this. Welcome bro.

There is nothing in the log about problems with the vertical flight path on RNAV and ILS approaches. So far the plane was unusable under IMC conditions! Does this problem continue?

I added a question about the V-FP not leaving after the flight is complete, in the bug report section. But there are more things like for example, when it arrives in the final miles of the head of the runway, it accumulates a lateral error that the plane arrives very crooked, in the use of the RNAV / V-FP. About ILS I’ll test to see how it goes. I only did a superficial test and did not get a constant GS, it was getting lost along the landing.

Unfortunate! This is a SERIOUS problem that apparently won’t be fixed quickly! So I won’t even bother testing it, it’s still unusable in IMC. I will only get my hands on this plane when a fix is announced for these issues with the vertical flight path on RNAV and ILS approaches. Until then, it’s only good for screens. :man_shrugging:

ILS works every time for me. V-FP also since the last patch.

Same with me here in the ATR-42. ILS allways spot on, V-FP also. You have to adhere to the steps outlined here before strictly, then all is well.

There is a heater designed in the side windows, but they did another layer of glass? The transparency is really reeduced on that views.

I noticed that yesterday too.

I agree, on the real airplane the transparency is unaffected.

I do almost always ILS approach and never had any problem with the GS path. Ever fine.

Fuel burn is still much lower than in reality. I can fly 1500NM with max TOW. Almost 40% less fuel burn.

I didn’t specifically measure it or compare it to real world numbers, but I got the distinct sense that was happening.

I felt I had way too much fuel at the end of a very long flight.
