Flight S7.T1.F2 Details
This is the second of six flights to former WWII Luftwaffe airfields. In this series we will visit some 38 airfields. Many more still exist throughout Europe and beyond; even more existed during the years of conflict.
Flight details are contained within the associated lnmpln and pln files. To summarise: we will initially depart from Schweinfurt (EDQT) in Bavaria and then proceed in a southerly direction to Allgäu Airport (EDJA) near to Memmingen, also in Bavaria. We then turn westerly to Entzheim (LFST) in France (and near to the city of Strasbourg). Finally, we take on a northerly direction to our destination of Spangdahlem (ETAD), taking us back into Germany and close to its border with Luxembourg.
Departure: EDQT (Schweinfurt, Bavaria).
Destination: ETAD (Spangdahlem, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).
Coffee-Break: EDDS (Stuttgart, capital of Baden-Württemberg, Germany): LFS for ~15 mins coffee-break.
All Other Airfields: T&G.
Borders: Both the lnmpln and pln files mark the border crossings as G2F (Germany→France) and F2G (France→Germany).
Cruise Altitudes (QNH): [EDQT-EDDS]:3000ft/915m. [EDDS-LFST]:4000ft/1220m. [LFST-ETAD]:3000ft/915m.
Weather: ‘Live Weather’ if possible; TBA on the day.
Flight Duration: ~94 min, plus ~15 min coffee break at EDDS (Stuttgart).
Flight Distance: 358 nm.
Navigation: By Dead Reckoning with reference to a (LNM) map, fixed ground features, DI/compass and watch/clock.
Aircraft
Any period SEP/MEP aircraft capable of maintaining the required cruise speed of 240 kt/276 mph/444 kph. This implies that the velocity performance, Pv = 4 nm/min, is constant for all aircraft in the flight.
