Hard to believe this isn’t already an option, but I’d like to be able to turn off auto rudder globallyl in the assistance options as in the previous FSX.
I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere in the settings where you could do that.
Searching in general and assistance the only option I see is to disable auto-rudder on takeoff only.
Otherwise you have to assign a control to toggle or turn auto rudder off/on which means you’d have to do it every flight!
Your probably right, I just remember seeing something in the settings about auto rudder. I’m out of town for the weekend and can’t check it out.
It’s a bug and I can’t believe it’s not prioritised. Auto rudder can’t be turned off. Coordinated turns are on permanently, even if auto rudder is turned off via the keyboard shortcuts. It should be an option in the Assistance menu, but isn’t. It should also be disabled automatically if a rudder control axis (e.g. pedals) is in use.
Can’t confirm. I’ve never turned it on and I didn’t even know that this option exists.
edit: Just tried this function but I can’t even enable/disable or toggle it in e.g. the 152.
It’s always off, no automatic rudder / rudder pedal movement at all.
For me and others, it’s always on. There are key bindings to turn it on and and off, and toggle, and for me these don’t turn it off.
Then zendesk and ask the mods to move this to the bugs section
I don’t know how you did arrive at this conclusion, but this isn’t the case, at least on my install.
No automatic/uncommanded rudder / rudder pedal movement at all.
When applying aileron, you can actually see the rudder & rudder pedals move on their own?
In the sim, the visual effects on the aircraft and the flight model are independently connected to control inputs. A developer stated this. This is why the rudder in the graphics doesn’t move when it does in the model. You can also see the ball doesn’t move when it should - apply an aileron bank and the ball should show a slip. The rate of turn is also consistent with a coordinated turn.
a) That’s an entirely different issue and has nothing to do with ‘invisible’ flight controls movement.
b) No, it doesn’t.
c) This has nothing to do with auto rudder. Adverse yaw tuning is being done in the FDM.
No uncommanded rudder movement = no auto rudder.
This is probably the biggest issue that makes this a game rather than a sim for me. All turns are coordinated without having to touch the rudder pedals. It feels completely false to enter a rate 1 turn with no slip or skid and the ball completely centered. You can even do steep turns with zero rudder input required, everything stays fully coordinated.
Even the key binding to turn off auto coordination does not solve the issue.
What are the auto rudder control bindings supposed to do? Do they do anything at all for anybody?
