Autopilot in career mode

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I’m having an issue with the autopilot in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, specifically in Career mode with the Cessna 172 (version G1000). When I activate the autopilot, it maintains altitude via Vertical Speed mode, but does not follow the set heading, either in HDG or NAV mode. The yoke rotates visually, but the plane does not change direction.

This problem does not occur in Free Flight mode, where the autopilot is operating normally. I also checked that the Flight Director is enabled and that the navigation settings are configured correctly.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

After many research it appears in all aircraft in career mode

Here is the video to help understand
At some times in the video (shortly after take off) i did some manual input to correct the heading but at the end you can see from the outside that with the autopilot on the yoke is moving but not the aileron

Well, just as a side note, you generally don’t climb using VS - that’s a good way to run out of airspeed and stall out. You climb using FLC - Flight Level Change. Dial in a a target altitude using ALT SEL above the altitude tape, hit AP and FLC. Dial in 74 knots which is Optimum Climb Speed - it gives you the greatest Feet Per Minute rate as determined in flight tests by Cessna. VS is mostly used for descents - headed down you’re less likely to stall and more likely cutting your throttle to a minimum depending on how steep your pitch rate is headed downhill.

That being said - I’d check to see if you have any Assistances turned on in the Assistance Menu.

Barring that, unplug your controllers and use only keyboard / mouse once airborne. What you could be seeing is controller drift affecting the Autopilot. If the controller is drifting or inputting values on it’s own without your command (usually a sign that the controller internals are mechanically worn out or defective), a high enough input can and will override the AP.

Thanks for the advice

OMG i feel so dumb my joystick was miss calibrated :man_facepalming:
