Autorudder key binds do not work

NOTE: Below, I may have confused the autorudder key binds with auto-rudder assist (hendis55 explains the difference below). However, the autorudder key binds still do not appear to work. If anyone not using rudder assists could simply press Shift+Ctrl+U before takeoff and verify your rudder does not move with the ailerons. (It is apparently supposed to.) This was not really the behavior I was looking for. I want the binds to toggle on/off the auto-rudder assist instead, so I may need to create a wishlist item for it. Thank you very much for the votes on the bug.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Brief description of the issue:

The autorudder key binds in controls options do not work to toggle on/off the autorudder assist function.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Begin a new flight in the C172 G1000 on the runway with all rudder assists off. Have a mild to strong crosswind on the runway. Press Shift+Ctrl+U to toggle the autorudder function on. Release the parking brake, push full throttle, and watch the plane veer off the runway without manual rudder inputs.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

First noticed it in SU9 beta, but this is probably irrelevant

Aren’t you confusing the rudder assist feature with auto-rudder?

If I’m not mistaken, the rudder assist is indeed the one helping you keep the plane straight, but it can only be switched on and off in the settings menus.

Shift+Ctrl+U toggles the feature linking the aileron control to the rudder. This is useful if your controller set has no rudder axis.

Possibly. They are both labeled as autorudder in the sim, except one has a dash in it (auto-rudder).

It doesn’t seem to work either way (I mean the autorudder bind). Since you seem to know how it’s actually supposed to work, maybe you could try it out and let me know. Thanks.

I tried it in the C152 for example and it didn’t seem to affect the turn coordinator at all. Maybe it only works in airliners or something.

I’m sort of grounded for the time being and speak entirely from memory, but it’s easy to verify if I’m onto something or completely bonkers.

When on the ground with everything off, look at the rudder in the outside view and see if rolling left and right moves it together with the ailerons. Then press the toggle and try again.

Thanks for the tip. The rudder is not moving with the ailerons in the Bonanza. I also looked at the rudder pedals in the cockpit and they don’t move.

Also no luck with the A320.

One workaround that has been brought up for this issue is to bind the joystick to the rudder controls as well as the ailerons. But this is not really the behavior I am looking for. I want binds for the auto-rudder assist instead, and I think I may have created a wishlist item on it.
